Publisher's summary

Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who’s always up for a fight - even if it means putting her life on the line....

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane. Now, her simple job has turned into a fight to stay alive...and to protect the desperately ill child left in her care.

Wow, Jane does it again!

Great to see Jane at it in another city with the same old crew, and nice to see some new characters (eg Sole). Good relationship between Jane and Eli and the Kid. LOTS of sexual tension between Jane and Bruiser and Rick. Not enough of Beast.

Tired of the Angst!!

Any additional comments?

I'm really really tired of the relationship angst it's like faith is writing a romance novel instead of the urban fantasy that this is suppose to be...get on with the story...and stop with the love triangle already...Jane is suppose to be a strong woman and confident of herself and her skills although socially inept at relationships but more and more the story is all about her angst ,about her relationship with her boyfriend and her attraction to another guy...it's like she turned into this insipid woman..wondering about her boyfriend..wondering what he's doing where he is, who's he with...if he's thinking about her...checking her cellphone to see if he called...urgggh! enough already...!..If i wanted to read a romance novel I would've purchased one instead of this book..! As it is I had to fast forward through some of the pages when she's thinking about rick or brusier just to get to the main story line..!

Jane Yellowrock starts to finds her family

Caution: Don't try to read the Jane Yellowrock books out of order. The emotional payoff won't be there if you do. She starts off ruthless, and with each book we see her start to make emotional ties to the people in her life. She really is the kid "raised by wolves". Lots of big guns, thrilling action, and snappy sarcasm, but this book we see her take on more of beast's protective side and start to admit that she has built herself a "family". Jane is no one's cliched feminine lead, and she takes some warming to. the series is starting to reveal some of the story's depth in a very interesting way - both in Jane's history and in the vampire political world. Solid, satisfying, and action-packed.

WOW!!! Keeps you on your toes

My (twin) Denise Duck-Matthews has been bugging me to listen to this series. I finally was in the mood for something new and exciting and CRAP I don’t know what took me so long. Faith Hunter is an incredible author and there are too many things to say about her talent. I want to say THANK YOU for the no cursing rule Jane has. It’s refreshing to listen to a series that doesn’t use my LORDS name in vein. Off to read book 6.5. I haven’t been this excited about a new series in a long time.

Better each time!

I feel like the books just keep getting better. I loved the weird mystical dream walker, the excitement of the various house busts, and I am just not yet tired of the love triangles. I am going to have to vote for none of the above men, though.

Too much killing not enough plot

I love these stories but this last in the series is killing, killing, killing. I need more interaction between characters. I need more to the story to reveal itself. If Jane’s life and her ancestor’s story is fully written then how about Molly, Evan, or other main character’s back stories being fleshed out. Sorry to criticize but I was rather bored with all the gore.

Excellent continuation of story arc

Faith Hunters new series continues to be well developed as the primary characters are more deeply explored in Book 6 of the Jane Yellowrock series.

Conflict both physical and emotional is explored as Jane is called to discover the reason why the 'super vamps' seem to be resistant to her typical methods of making renegade vampires truly dead.

Janes personal relationships with her two primary love interests are further explored but we readers/listeners have even more exploration into Janes history and background-much is revealed in this book and my interest remained peaked.

In my opinion, the strong woman with a gentle heart in the series is a great role model for women from the older teen up to any mature age (I, for example, am 70) who enjoys her action mixed with introspection. Although I enjoy books with good love scene writing I also appreciate that Jane doesn't jump into bed with just anyone. She thinks about what she wants/needs before acting.

The action scenes are great-well written with lots of information about guns etc. The male reader would probably enjoy 6this series more than he expects...I encourage men who like action books to try the Jane Yellowstone series for light reading.

I loo forward to more in this series

Excellent Story

I am amazed at how Faith Hunter weaves a story. The vampires in this book are definitely different, YUK. After I got into it, I could not stop listening. I felt like I was actually in a movie. I am so looking forward to the next installment. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to hear what happens with Jane and the two hunks who love her.

What a dilemna!

It needed more Beast

It was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but... I was so entirely swept up in the last book, and this one didn't pull me in as hard. It felt much more like character and feeling development than the action packed wow moments the last book had. As if the plot with the witches and spider vamps was an afterthought. None of this is bad, just an observation. We do learn a lot about different people like Sol, Rick, and the relationship with the Younger brothers and Jane. Leo and his manipulation, and Bruisers new smell. I think it needed more beast. Beast is so cunning and smart, but she was mostly asleep or just aiding in night vision... I missed her.

Overall it is good, worth a credit, and I think it lead to further interesting things.
