Publisher's summary

As Robbie arranges a breakfast-themed cook-off at Pans 'N Pancakes, visitors pour into Brown County for the annual maple extravaganza. Unfortunately, that includes Professor Connolly, a know-it-all academic from Boston who makes enemies everywhere he goes - and this time, bad manners prove deadly.

Soon after clashing with several scientists at a maple tree panel, the professor is found dead outside a sugar shack, stabbed to death by a local restaurateur's knife. When an innocent woman gets dragged into the investigation and a biologist mysteriously disappears, Robbie drops her winning maple biscuits to search for answers. But can she help police crack the case before another victim is caught in a sticky situation with a killer?

Love the entire series

I love the series it is: original, has interesting and compelling characters and keeps a good tempo. The only thing that Annoys me is the talented narrator has a voice that sounds too old for the lead character who is supposed to be in her late twenties.

Biscuits and Hash Browns

I listened to the story as I was working around the house. I love these Maddie Day stories. They are fun but not scary stories. I like having a girl be the heroe of the story and she's talented too!

I LOVE THIS SERIES

This is becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery series! I really enjoyed trying to solve the latest mystery with Robbie!
When I first started this series, I wasn't sure about the narrator. I thought she sounded too old for the main character, but I decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did! I'm ready to jump into the next book in the series!

UGH!! Getting On My Last Nerve!

I listen to these Cozies b/c Audible does a piss poor job of offering Cozies by black authors and I enjoy them. Been a loyal listener since 2011 & have over 800 books in my library but this is the first character I have ever wanted to mush in the face!! I don't know if it's b/c the narrator's voice for Robbie is to old sounding or that b/c she isn't a real sleuth that her questioning of people irks me raw. Everything else about her is awesome & enduring. Great series & cute premise for the book. However, I do wish the token black of the whole area could just be black. My grandfather has blue eyes so ok but why couldn't Phil just be a regular handsome black man w/brown eyes???

Cozy Mystery review.

I liked the story.
Didn’t like the beginning. The narrator’s voice was too old sounding for the age of the main character. Bad accents.

Unappealing book

The main character is sanctimonious (assuming a character should have easily attainable prescriptions that are affordable because they’re old enough for Medicare is so tone deaf) and self-pitying (constantly questioning a relationship that is fairly new. The poor-little-me gets old). I didn’t read the first books so I’m guessing the main character is in her mid-50s. I don’t mind an older voice, but I do expect the characters to be well-fleshed out and believable. The best thing about this series is the number of freely available books on Audible Plus.
