Editorial reviews

Editors Select, October 2014 - Following in the footsteps of best friend, former SNL cast mate, and improv partner Tina Fey, Amy Poehler is releasing her first book – and I couldn't be more excited! The much anticipated Yes Please could not come any sooner for me after completing Tina Fey's Bossypants, Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, and Nick Offerman's Paddle Your Own Canoe - each of which praises Poehler for her witty, charming, and brazen attitude. With an ensemble cast of excellent narrators joining her (Seth Meyers, Carol Burnett, and Patrick Stewart, to name a few), this book is shaping up to be yet another hit for the hilarious Amy Poehler. I can’t wait to listen! Rob, Audible Editor

Critic reviews

"Actress and comedian Amy Poehler's memoir is full of charm and life lessons, but what's REALLY fun is how out of the box the audiobook production is. Listeners know they're getting something special, unique, and a bit absurd right from the start when Poehler claims to be narrating from her own personal audio booth, built at the base of Mt. Rushmore. Poehler sounds consistently warm, funny, and genuine, and it's only a matter of time before she'll have you laughing out loud. When she's joined in "her" studio by Seth Meyers and Mike Schur to reminisce about Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation, it sounds like we're overhearing candid (and giggly) conversations between friends. Cameos from Carol Burnett, Kathleen Turner, Patrick Stewart (intoning strange haikus), and even Amy's parents add even more flavor. What a treat." ( AudioFile)

yes... PLEASE!

If you have the opportunity to read, or listen, to this book...DO!! I only fell asleep one time, but only because I was exhausted and Amy's voice is so calming. She does an amazing job and all the fun bits in this book make it feel like you're listening to friends goof off while listening to a teacher read.

Wonderful!

Amy Poehler is a fantastic author, comedian, speaker, and human. She spoke to my heart. I love how she views the human condition and infuses her weird brand of comedy into it. Great book. Worth every penny!

Laugh out loud

Any additional comments?

Amy Poehler is a live performer at heart, and this narration proves it. Listening to this book rather than reading it absolutely amplified the story line. Amy doesn't speak to anything revolutionary, but her reflections on life, and quick quips, are literally bust a gut hilarious.

Read or listen to Tina Fey's, Boss Pants, and you'll laugh more often, but not as hard.

Thank you Amy! This book is what everyone needs in their life. Your ability to bring the feist while still remaining charmingly human kept me unable to stop listening. I think we should be friends! My cousin wants to hang with you too. Thank you for keeping it real and putting into words the feelings of pure joy and laughter you enjoy with your most favorite people. You’re great!

Amy is hilarious, inspiring, and real.

I don't generally prefer audio over physical books, but I've grown to love listening to a story while doing laundry, cleaning, driving, or whatever mundane task I need my hands for, but not much of my brain.

As of today, this is the happiest I've been with an audio book. Hearing Amy her family and friends tell her stories added so much to the experience. Getting to hear her giggle and talk allowed the listener to hear the sincerity or adoration or sarcasm in her voice. It was a delightful adventure to go on with Amy.

I especially appreciated her disclosures about her struggles with writing and self deprecation and narcissism. I also really enjoyed hearing about her experiences on Parks and Rec (a show I love, along with the rest of the world, of course). She reminds us what it means to be human and that being a celebrity doesn't change that. And just as I have always felt, that kindness matters.
