"What shines through in this well-written book is the authors' great respect for these gritty, intelligent, and occasionally flawed women. The authors briefly tell each woman's life story in an enchanting storytelling voice, helping readers to see how these ancient stories still have meaning centuries later. The book is well-organized, offering a woman's story for every week of the year, as well as a week's worth of structured lessons and reflections." (Amazon.com review)
I commute about an hour each way to work and listen to audio books enroute. Sometimes I don't want to get out of my car because I'm at a really good place!
This is an inspirational book about the women of the bible. I didn't remember there being so many. The author did great background research. It's been interesting to pre-read the passages and then do the weekly study - sometimes a different observation or slant is presented. A good read.
educational, enlightening and insprirational.
ruth, because was she willing to give up everything that was familiar to her; Then venture on a journey that was unknown.
no, had no past reference.
not extreme, but found it very educational and inspiring, since most of the Bible stories seemed more centered on the men of the Bible.
would recommend this to all women as a source of encouragement and inspirational.
"Powerfully different view on women"
As a woman I had always seen myself as a second-class citizen, but after listening to this book repeatedly, I have a different opinion. Obviously I don't think women are superior, but how powerful and liberating this book has been. I didn't use it as a yearly Bible study, being disabled I have listened overnight, and during morning ablutions, in the presence of carers, over a period of about 10 days. I would recommend this book to any woman, or man, and expect a totally different mindset! 100% excellent!
