Do not hesitate to buy this book!
Hemmingway was jealous for a reason. Her narrative is spellbinding, and it always puts me in a hazy trance when I listen to it - it transports you so well. There is a certain timelessness to this book, I only wish I had bought it sooner.

Inspiring, profound and beautifully written
Rarely do I buy books in paper form once I've listened to them but half way through I purchased this one. This book to me is a work of art. Beryl is brave and poetic, her life matches her writing in that it was incredible. I can't wait to read my paperback copy and highlight all the profound thoughts and quotes. I loved this book!

Beautifully written, wonderful narration, but gory!
I loved learning about living in Africa in the early 20th century and learning about piloting at that time, but did not enjoy the discussions about hunting, finally skipping them.

Captivating
I loved this book and it held my interest from start to finish. Narrator was excellent . It's hard to identify just one favorite part since the entire story was filled with remarkable descriptions of Africa, it's people, remarkable wildlife and captivating beauty. The story was remarkable, poignant, exciting and spellbinding. I highly recommend it.

This is book is a masterpiece.
