amazing how easy we forget

If you like personal stories about WWII history you should like this. Good story, at 38 years old I have never heard of these people, how easily the world forgets...sort of sad I'd say

Even better than expected... Hard to put down... It is amazing what God can overcome

Couldn't put it down, looked forward every evening to hear what other obstacles Louis would face and endure with unmatched courage.

Deep character development

I like how Laura H writes in a way that helps you experience what the characters are feeling. At times this is quite painful. Fortunately, this story includes redemption so the finish is worth looking forward to. Enjoy!

Absolutely gripping

What about Edward Herrmann’s performance did you like?

Exactly the right tone for the book. It's grim, and he conveyed the seriousness and levity BOTH, perfectly.

I'm not usually one for nonfiction, but this was incredibly gripping. Louie is a charismatic leading man, and Hillenbrand did a fabulous job making the story come to life.

Edward Herrmann was sensational...definitely the best narrator on Audible. The life story of Louie Zamperini is the stuff of legends. Author Laura Hillenbrand has done a masterful job of putting us in Louie's shoes. I will listen to this book again soon.

Where does Unbroken rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably the best book I've ever listened to (loved Seabiscuit as well).

What other book might you compare Unbroken to and why?

The information presented on the Japanese POW camps was riveting. Honestly, I've never had an author tell a story so well and give a history lesson at the same time.

What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to a book with a good reader allows me to focus in a way that is superior to my reading the book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cannot believe what our soldiers went through and how any of them came back undamaged. It certainly didn't make me laugh.
