NUMBER ONE NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER •

George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States, has authored a personal biography of his father, George H. W. Bush, the 41st president. Forty-three men have served as president of the United States. Countless books have been written about them. But never before has a president told the story of his father, another president, through his own eyes and in his own words. A unique and intimate biography, the book covers the entire scope of the elder President Bush’s life and career, including his service in the Pacific during World War II, his pioneering work in the Texas oil business, and his political rise as a Congressman, U.S. Representative to China and the United Nations, CIA Director, Vice President, and President. The book shines new light on both the accomplished statesman and the warm, decent man known best by his family. In addition, George W. Bush discusses his father’s influence on him throughout his own life, from his childhood in West Texas to his early campaign trips with his father, and from his decision to go into politics to his own two-term Presidency.

Great book!

I lean to the liberal side of town and proudly voted for president Obama twice, yet I have the up most respect for President Bush (41). His life is a testament of how someone should live their life. President Bush (43) did an excellent job of reading and telling his father's story. Though I was 4 years too young to vote for (41) and did not vote for (43), I believe both men great human beings.

LOVED this reading

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Such a great perspective. This story could not be told by anyone else.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that President Bush was reading the book. It made it that much more personal to me.

What about George W. Bush’s performance did you like?

That he spoke the way he always speaks. He slipped up a few words and that's what I like about him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I made a personal connection to this book because it reminds me of what my Husband would say about his own Father. The love story is the same even if the men are different.

He was a good man.

I observed Bush Sr from the time he was President when I was a small child, until the time of his death. I recognized a kind hearted, honest, loving, brave, humble, intelligent, humorous, strong, family oriented man. God bless you 41, and RIP

An unashamed love affair

What did you love best about 41?

This should not be judged as an attempt by George W Bush to give a measured assessment of his father as a US politician and public servant, This is an unashamed appreciation of a man who George W considers to be a wonderful father, and contributor to public office in the United States.

In writing this book, George W Bush brings out the humanity of his father who was brilliant in one to one relationships, but maybe could not always win popular support through being seen as patrician and stiff.

In giving this personal, partisan and mainly uncritical insight into his father, George W does reveal insights into his own character, and his motivation to follow his Dad.

Not a masterpiece or anything other than a peripheral record of a politician over the last 50 years, this is a warm book and I enjoyed this impulse buy more than I thought I would.

Inspiring and informative

I absolutely loved this read! Hearing George W Bush’s own son tell the stories often gave me chills just to think what being there through the good and bad times must have felt like. Such admiration for a strong, convicted family of political leaders that undeniably loved our great County!

Heartwarming and Honoring

If you could sum up 41 in three words, what would they be?

Integrity, Leadership, Family

What other book might you compare 41 to and why?

Don't know

Which scene was your favorite?

Not a favorite scene - but an eye opener. It is amazing to discover that the Clintons are actually very good friends with the Bush Family. They don't tear each other apart. They work with each other. Wish we all did the same.

Any additional comments?

Heartwarming. The reader will appreciate the love that was put into writing this book. It is full of respect, admiration, and stories that will make you smile. The book's value is increased due to it's characters still being alive and so much part of us. History in the making, but also History that's unique in its father/son relationship.Worth a credit.
