Publisher's summary

The Emmy award-winning former executive producer of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report has assembled a stellar lineup of men who have one thing in common: all have been dumped...and are willing to share their pain and the lessons learned.

Relationships end. And in almost all of them, even the most callow among us take something away. This is a book about that something, whether it be major life lessons, like "If you lie, you will get caught," simple truths like, "Flowers work," or something wholly unique like, "Watch out for the high strung brother in the military." This anthology will be comprised of longer and shorter pieces, drawn from an array of impressive celebrities, writers and public figures. Some pieces may be a paragraph in length while others will be full-blown essays. All of them will be about that salient something men take away from a failed relationship. Yes, men learn.

This is not a touchy-feely book. This is not a self-help book. This is a book packed with smart, funny and insightful stories from men you probably thought never got dumped, or if they did, would never admit it.

Critic reviews

"Whether the men pathetically recall their failed dating attempts or are celebrating their record number of dumps as learned experiences, these witty, comical approaches to being dumped are sure to entertain anyone who has entered the world of dating." (Publishers Weekly)

I love these guys!

a disappointment from really talented comedy writers. Just seemed an excuse to use profanity and, in some cases, some really unappetizing imagery. This is the 3rd Hachette audio that I've purchased (others by Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris who I like too) and I haven't liked any of them. The abridged version probably doesn't help either..

Not so great

This book really didn't seem worth the price considering how short it was. Some stories were certainly better than others. Steven Colbert's was just plain terrible.

Don’t bother

This is a terrible audio book. Probably worse as a physical book. Definitely don’t bother……

Bah

credit time had come and this time I learned my lesson by wasting money instead of a credit on something like this....if you can relate to that then you are a real deal audible.com book warrior. Not too well put together and I found the stories pretty lame. Meh -ditto.

not for me...

Guess I was expecting something with a little more substance, or at the least some good laughs. This was a waste of a credit.

I want my 3.5 hours back

Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrator?

No. I would rather die

What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?

It was a series of stories with the namesake theme. They weren't particularly interesting and there is about one laugh to be had throughout the audio. Also it was full of unnecessary swearing that was misplaced and made me feel uncomfortable.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrator’s performances?

Definitely not.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Things I've Learned from Women Who've Dumped Me?

Most of them.

Any additional comments?

This book did not deserve to be made into an audiobook. Do not put yourself through listening to it.

Not so great

I had read and loved the book. Didn't feel the same about listening; some narrators are better writers than readers.
