The sequel to the bestselling A Street Cat Named Bob continues the remarkable adventures of James and Bob showing - through new stories - how Bob's extraordinary street wisdom has shown James the meaning of friendship, loyalty, trust - and happiness.
"Since Bob had appeared, I'd made huge strides in my life. For more than a decade I'd been a homeless drug addict. I'd been lost to the world and forgotten what was important in life. Now I'd got myself back on my two feet, but as I put the past behind me, I was still stepping unsteadily into the future. I still needed help in the right direction. Bob was always there to offer guidance and friendship."
James and his street cat Bob have been on a remarkable journey together. In the years since their story ended in the bestselling A Street Cat Named Bob James, with Bob's help, has begun to find his way back to the real world.

SciFi/Fantasy and Classics to History, Adventure and Memoirs to Social Commentary—I love and listen to it all!
I'd listen to this book again because I couldn't get enough of the first book. This was another life-disrupting, "cover-to-cover" listen for me; I just kept wanting to know what was going to happen. This isn't only an animal/buddy book, it's also about trying to rise from circumstances with few resources. How do Bob and James survive? Put food on the table? How does one of the invisible members of society get sick, find care... and still make rent? Bob and James have become a bit of a sensation, but has that changed their situation in any way? Seriously, how do people on the street live?
Bob's complete devotion to James is unwavering and causes so many memorable moments. In this book, one learns how James really, really considers what kind of a life he can offer his cat: can he give an animal security and care when he's not sure of his situation from day to day? But animals make their own choices, don't they?
As I said about the previous book, Kristopher Milnes brings an authenticity to the narration that can always make or break a story. It works so well here. My only complaint is that, unlike the first book, here, for some inexplicable reason, someone decided to "beep" the limited profanity. Very jarring to the listener, unnecessary, and heck, kind of laughable.
It's a stand up and cheer book. It's a shake your fist to the sky because of a crappy hand dealt book.
Again, this book is just too short. It's kind of painful to spend a credit (miser that I am) on such a short book, but, as I'll be listening to it again, what the hell! It's well spent, and was an audiobook that I've recommended to friends and family who have discovered audible!
I am a total audiobook addict! I travel quite a bit for work and listen to them while I drive. Always searching for a good author to follow
I loved all of it! It was great to hear more stories and learn how the book came about.
I loved it when Bob sensed danger, he defended him and James when someone was trying to steal James backpack! What a clever kitty cat.
He was great and made the story a real pleasure to listen to.
I loved the epilogue and even had a wee tear in my eye when it ended. I am a cat lover and love the bond that people can form with their pets.
I really hope this gets turned into a movie or more books. He is such a character and him and James are so lucky to have found each other. I just couldn't get enough of this story, they were both finished far too fast!!! I have been telling anyone and everyone about Bob and James. I wonder if I can teach my cat Chloe to high five :)
It is at the top.
James early in his efforts to get clean, unable to conceive the idea of having a friend as steadfast as Bob, and Bob having the capacity to show James a better and brighter world.
After reading A Street Cat Named Bob and finding out how successful it was, I wanted to know how the success affected James and Bob's lives. This book satisfied that curiosity. I desperately wanted to see good things happen to them.
James. He is such a good-hearted, humble man who made some bad choices in his youth and is desperately trying to turn his life around. I was very sympathetic to his plight and was pulling for him all the way!
I can't say enough about Kristopher's performance. Totally believable! The real James has some big shoes to fill to match it.
I laughed at some of Bob's antics. I cried (tears of joy) at the way the first book-signing event turned out after James was so worried it would be a flop.
I am looking forward to the release of the next book "My Name is Bob" where the story will be told from Bob's point of view.
Really inspiring book. I really enjoyed the narrator he delivered the book very well.
The way they bonded together.
Then Bob was trying to take care of James when James leg was infected.
After James came out of the hospital and his friend came to meet him and she brought Bob with her and bob was a so excited to see James. That was so touching.
Loved the book!!
James Bowen was so courageous in revealing his struggles to clean up his life for the sake of the cat who depended on him. Fortunately, he finally found some one, a cat, who cared enough for him to convince him that life was worth living.
James. He revealed such an inspiring and honest portrayal of what happens to people who have no friends and family to support and love them.
I've listened to it three times already.
The wonderful meaning a relationship with a cat can give to your life.
When Bob woke James when they reached the bus stop, preventing them to go way past home.
Well I just loved knitting whilst someone read me the book. Kris managed to actually sound like a recovering drug addict, street person.
The epilogue - and the meaning this story gave to the last days of the dying lady.
Due to this book I will always view people who sell the Big Issue differently, and I pray that more people's lives will be touched by a cat. I would love for James to write more books so that we can follow his progress in his life. I'll keep a lookout James - well done and thanks for the heart warming tale.
It's definitely in the top 10 at the moment
too many to mention as a cat lover and owner I can appreciate so many Bob moments such as the worm scene, dog companions, mad women trying to steal Bob, cycling through London with Bob, Bob on the bus, Bob envy and so many more.
Bob is a dream, this follows on from Bob by James Bowen, I just love everything about this cat. I have found this so enjoyable and it has been a really easy listen but its not froth and sympathy it is an enlightening tale of the bond between man and cat. This dispels myths about cats being indifferent to people and shows their true nature, that any cat owner will recognise.
James & Bob live in London and sell the Big Issue, as a recovering drug user Bob gives James a sense of purpose and their bond grows stronger everyday. It is heartwarming, easy going and I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how their life unfurls.
That this is true story is even more brilliant and I wish James and Bob continued happiness and literary success.
Enjoy - share it on a car journey with the kids
"If you liked A Street Cat Named Bob..."
...treat yourself to this. If you liked the first book, you should like this follow-up - I certainly did.
I enjoyed the humanity and mutual love between Bob and James. As a cat lover, there is a constancy of things that resonate. The main thing for me is the highlighting of human inhumanity to human while there is the unconditional mutual love between animal and human.
Bob's intuition to illness was skilfully explored and spot on. One of my cat's has the ability to tune in on illnesses and it really resonated.
I laughed and cried a few times.
An incredible audiobook - great narration and I felt fully immersed in Bob and James's world. Sad it has finished!
"This will change your mind about Homeless people"
I would recommend anyone to read this book who has even the smallest amount of social conscience. I stopped buying the Big Issue years ago as I believed the sellers were just using the money to fuel their drug or alcohol addictions. This book has put the record straight and this Christmas gave me the courage to go up to our local Big Issue seller and talk to him, buy his magazine and a hot coffee.
I like the fact that this story is written in an unsentimental and self denegrating way. The author is clearly aware of objections to him as a busker and then a Big Issue seller and the owner of street cat. I think he does a wonderful job of batting off these objections and putting forward, without preaching in any way, an argument to say homelessness is an issue we should all take an interest in and do something about.
I absolutely fell in love with Bob, who wouldn't? It just reinforces to me more and more as I get older that animals, despite common belief, do have souls and have intelligent thought.
This book made me laugh in part and cry for sure. It made me geel guilty for ignoring our local Big Issue seller and has made me feel I want to do something to help.
Please write another follow up story so all your adoring fans know what is happening in your's and Bob's life.
"I loved this as much as his first book"
The honesty with which he writes
The two main characters of course - Bob and James
His voice and accent seemed about right for the story
I Did It!
I love the down to earth storytelling by James. The way he accomplished his mission in breaking free from his addiction and the way he pulled himself back to live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle could not have been easy but he won through.
"Recommended for anyone who loves cats"
Having read the first book (a street cat named bob) i decided to give this one a try as i am new to audible i must admit the service is great., & i've been enjoying listening to this book where ever i am., bob is a really clever cat & very creative in getting attention from james., especially when bob's tummy rumbles, the adventures of bob & james is a real good heart warmer & shows the love between the two., during the day they both keep each other company while selling the big issue & the book shows how their life has developed for the better & i wish the author & bob the best christmas wishes & a very happy new year., can't wait for the next book i will definitely be reading/listening to it

"Cried when this book ended"
Together with A Street Cat named Bob, these are the two most enjoyable books I have listened to so far.
All of it. It opened my eyes to the plight of the homeless in a way that was easy to relate to. The fact that it was a true story really pulled on the heart strings.
It made me laugh and cry.
I truly hope that James keeps writing books and that Bob lives for a very long time yet!
