Publisher's summary

New York Times Best Seller

Now a major motion picture directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

By day he made thousands of dollars a minute. By night he spent it as fast as he could. From the binge that sank a 170-foot motor yacht and ran up a $700,000 hotel tab, to the wife and kids waiting at home and the fast-talking, hard-partying young stockbrokers who called him king, here, in Jordan Belfort's own words, is the story of the ill-fated genius they called the Wolf of Wall Street. In the 1990s, Belfort became one of the most infamous kingpins in American finance: a brilliant, conniving stock-chopper who led his merry mob on a wild ride out of Wall Street and into a massive office on Long Island. It's an extraordinary story of greed, power, and excess no one could invent: the tale of an ordinary guy who went from hustling Italian ices to making hundreds of millions - until it all came crashing down.

Praise for The Wolf of Wall Street

“Raw and frequently hilarious.” (The New York Times)

“A rollicking tale of [Jordan Belfort’s] rise to riches as head of the infamous boiler room Stratton Oakmont...proof that there are indeed second acts in American lives.” (Forbes)

“A cross between Tom Wolfe’s The Bonfire of the Vanities and Scorsese’s GoodFellas... Belfort has the Midas touch.” (The Sunday Times [London])

“Entertaining as pulp fiction, real as a federal indictment...a hell of a read.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Better than the movie

Better than the movie would be an understatement. It's a completely different journey the one you embark on with this book. Full of details and great story telling. Much to learn also.

A modern Greek tragedy

I enjoyed the movie. The book though, gives a little more balance to the up and down swings of the moral depravity. Jordan Belfort is entertaining, introspective, and self-deprecating. Although by the end of the book, you glimpse the major downside to drug induced ego-mania, like most rock star bios, it's hard not to conclude that it had to be a blast while it lasted.

BEST BOOK, BEST WRITTEN, AND BEST AUDIBLE DEAL

Would you consider the audio edition of The Wolf of Wall Street (Movie Tie-in Edition) to be better than the print version?

The book is 10 times better than the movie

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wolf of Wall Street (Movie Tie-in Edition)?

Trust me read the book

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Dont watch movie read the book

Any additional comments?

One of the best written books. Jordan Belford wrote a classic. The book is given in the perspective of the voices in his mind. Voices saying "do this do that", others saying "you have no shame and so forth". I have always wondered how people commit crimes, how they think things through. This book gives that perspective. Its also a funny book, there are parts that will make you ball over in laughter. Belford also had an interesting life. Trust me read the book.

Crazy story and throughly entertaining

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. I found it so good, I have no desire to watch the movie.

Also, the narrator is FANTASTIC!

Better than the film!

The movie was amazing and the book exceeds it in every way! It starts off almost scene per scene and you can envision Leonardo playing this character to the T!

Friends with the Wolf

This is a brilliant account of life styles of the rich and dysfunctional, you feel a little guilty listening, but like a car crash you just can't turn away. The narrator does a great job of telling the story, differentiating the voices of each of the characters and making you feel like you are in a conversation with your old friend Jordan. By the end you will swear you were there for each outrageous occurrence and like you were good friends with the Wolf himself.
Fair warning, this book contains foul language and endless depraved adult content.

An AMAZING story!

First off, as others have mentioned, the narrators voicing of women and children is simply cringe-worthy. I don't know how he could correct it, but hearing a man voice a woman or child is just....eek.

The story though, is amazing. I enjoyed it and after about 20 hours immersed in the life of Jordan Belfort, I was bummed once it ended. It's actually well written, especially considering he's a broker/banker/investor/con man, not an author by trade.

The movie has to cut corners and shorten things up. If you enjoyed the movie (and since you are now here, I'll assume you did, you'll enjoy this). The best way to describe it is to simply picture yourself sitting down across from the man himself and asking him to tell you his story, in his words, exactly as it happened... and not to skip a thing.

Here I am 20+ hours later and I'm certain (after I check out Catching the Wolf of Wall Street") I'll listen to it again.

Entertaining!

I loved this book. The author’s use of descriptive language was engaging and entertaining. I laughed out loud more than once. I’d find myself sitting in my car a little longer just so I could hear the next part. Highly recommend!
