The New Path tells the story of a young American's spiritual quest, his discovery of the powerful classic Autobiography of a Yogi, and his subsequent meeting with - and acceptance as a disciple by - the book's author, the great spiritual teacher and yoga master Paramhansa Yogananda.
Swami Kriyananda is an extraordinary narrator: He recreates the vibrancy of his guru's presence, remembers Yogananda's words with perfect clarity, and communicates to the listener the depth of their meaning. Through Kriyananda's eyes and words, you'll be transported into Yogananda's immediate presence as you learn the highest yogic teachings.
The New Path provides a marvelous sequel to Paramhansa Yogananda's own Autobiography of a Yogi, helping you to gain a more profound understanding of this great world teacher. Through hundreds of stories of life with Yogananda and through Swami Kriyananda's invaluable insights, you'll discover the inner path that leads to soul-freedom and lasting happiness.

"Reading Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda was a transformative experience for me and for millions of others. In The New Path: My Life with Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda carries on this great tradition. Highly recommended." (Dean Ornish, M.D., Founder and President, Preventive Medicine Research Institute, Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco)
"[T]he teaching, the message, and the life of Paramhansa Yogananda are illuminated in a way that makes it possible for us to not only easily access his timeless wisdom, but - through the elegantly easy-to-follow explanations and the living example of one of Master's most devoted disciples - actually apply Eternal Truth to our present-day life." (Neale Donald Walsch, author of Conversations with God)
Excellent insight into the path of a spiritual seeker, commingled with beautiful exploits from the life of paramahansa yogananda.
Well done Donald! Well done.
I read the autobiography of a yogi, and this is truly the other side of that coin.
Kriyanandas voice was so sweet and loving and impregnated with Yoganandas vibration.
I took Kriya initation in the Hariharananda lineage shortly after reading autobiography of a yogi and this audiobook gave me insight into many topics I did not know before and was just what I needed.
This book is very helpful for any true seeker on the spiritual path.
Thank you Kriyananda for making this available !
God is Love - Love God
I love Swami Kryananda and his gentle loving narrative about his early life and the life with his guru Parmahansa Yogananda. I only wish I had known him while he was still alive. I am nothing short of eternally inspired by his words, stories and admonitions.
In the first few minutes of this book, Kriyananda talks about how he was going to talk about Yogananda, and how this book could really be seen as a 'continuation' to "Autobiography of a Yogi" (I couldn't believe the ego! For him to place his work in the same category as Yogananda's is so laughable it's beyond ridiculous!) Then he goes on spending the next few hours talking only about himself, down to the smallest details of his childhood - incredibly boring to listen to, and I doubt anyone cares about his little imaginings unless they are one of his followers. He loves to go on and on about himself, and throws in a lot of his opinions on everything, with no references to Yogananda the whole part I listened to.
Like the other reviewer, I finally had to give up... I couldn't take any more of his breathy/breathless fake-silky-sweet cooing.
I am very disappointed with all of the audios I purchased by him. He has a lot of books that have "by Yogananda" in the title, but they are NOT by Yogananda at all - he is just writing in Yogananda's name, claiming that Yogananda told him "Write that down! I've never said that before!" and such. I wish I had realized that when I first bought some of his audios - I never would have purchased them if I knew then what I know now. (Do a search for "Ananda Uncovered" to see some very interesting info, including several legal documents regarding the "Swami"). I was looking for material by Yogananda, not this guy who *claims* to speak for Yogananda.
I bought this audiobook with much excitement when I had previously read Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda. I still would love to listen to this one, but I keep having to stop every 5 minutes because I can't get past the lack of oxygen in the reader(author) as well as the airy voice. It feels like he should be on an oxygen tank... Very distracting from what seems to be possibly very good material.
A story from the heart of God's seeker. An honest, touching account of the life of a Swami.
