Journalist Michael J. Mooney reveals the life story of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, the American Sniper, from his Texas childhood up through his death in February 2013. A brutal warrior but a gentle father and husband, Kyle led the life of an American hero and legend. His heroism and reputation in the military service earned him the nickname "the devil" among insurgents and the nickname The Legend among his SEAL brethren, but his impact extended beyond that after he came home, through his work with fellow veterans.
Mooney also sheds light on the life of the suffering fellow veteran who killed Kyle and interviews those closest to the late SEAL. The Life and Legend of Chris Kyle is an honest portrayal of the life of a man whose memorial service brought thousands of people to Cowboys Stadium - the most celebrated war hero of our time.

I have read American Sniper before I read this book. With that being said my expectation of the book was higher than I have received. It's a good book of you are going to read it before you read American Sniper.
A true American Hero, A man above reproach, Valor! A man of God, an amazing husband and father and someone we can all teach our future generations about. Thank you for you dedication to and for our country Chris. May your light shine brightly forever!!
Chris Kyle was a shining example of a selfless and honorable man of extraordinary skill and tenacity on the battlefield and yet an amazing sense of humility and self deprecation in life in general. He was the kind of man who our young people should know about as a wonderful example of a true patriot. This short essay by Michael Mooney reflects those attributes to the letter.
A really great audiobook!! I learned a lot more about Chris Kyle this guy is the real American hero so sad that he is gone
It is at the top of my list. His story is very moving and heartbreaking.
When the story of his youth was being read, he was just an ordinary guy who was so very humble about his abilities.
The part that included the details of his funeral. It was very moving and felt as if I was there.
A true American hero.
