"What a woman! What a heart!" (AudioFile)
"Remarkable....A great lady moving right on through a great memoir." (Kirkus Reviews)
Yes, because to hear Ms Angelou's own voice makes it so much more interesting. If that's even possible.
This is very good listening. The reader (Dr. Angelou) pulls you into the book as if you were their. I am looking forward in listening to other books by Dr. Angelou.
I like best how I feel like I can visualize what is being said.
Dr. Angelou brings the story alive
yes. I could not turn it off
She is exceptional. Direct, soft, hard, savy, resourceful, a real woman with a great point of view. Through all her pain and suffering she can still stand tall and tell her real story. Amazing woman.
Her story is so interesting---where she went and what she accomplished as a poor young black single mother at a time when so much was denied her is so much more powerful than memoirs of those who had so much handed to them, who are famous for being famous.
this 3rd part of Maya Angelou's autobiography is a forthright account of the years she raised her son from age 12 to his college entrance .
An intimate look at a larger-than-life woman. No slick packaging or pretense. Like Maya Angelou's other books about her life, she keeps it honest and real. Listening, I felt like I was sitting with a friend over coffee. With all of her adventures and experiences, she describes a life that anyone can relate to and identify with.
The recording skipped many times during Chapters 2 and 3. I was disappointed because it was a good story.
As always, Maya Angelou tells a human story which, although is a powerful narrative on the African American experience of that time, transcends all race and culture and reminds us of the true beauty of humanity - Love, in its most beautiful and ugliest of forms. Hearing any volume of Dr Angelou's work narrated by her own unique voice is an inspiring experience.
