Gavin McInnes is more than just a rude lunatic who keeps getting beat up. He is an icon who personifies irreverence for an entire generation. This is his story, or, rather, stories - lots of them, and all gut-punchingly hilarious, from that first far reach into a girl's tight jeans to turning forty with a cataclysmic party.
In between you’ll hear about acid trips, threesomes, Nazi skinheads, his band Anal Chinook (Inuit for “warm wind”), Martians in northern Canada, throwing pedophiles in jail, dinner with the Clash, what happens when you crash Bill Maher's show wasted, and the true story of Vice magazine. A gifted writer and a born storyteller, McInnes has lived his life without apology. Learn from it.

I'm so glad Gavin narrated, it made the experience that much more enjoyable. You get to hear him talking in the various accents of the people in his life, mimicking bodily sound effects, and most important you can hear the authentic emotion in his voice as only the person who lived the events can truly express.
It definitely made me laugh, but its not all comedy, there are sentimental parts too.
Note that there is pornographic level detail in the stories and many of them involve drug use. If that doesn't scare you go ahead and get it. It's a interesting/crazy story of an interesting/crazy man with guaranteed laughs.
Absolutely must hear in Gavin's voice. Laugh out loud funny and his Scottish and other accents are a must hear. Brutally honest so be prepared for raunchiness. At one point in audio book, he gets choked up, and so did I.There is never, not for one second, a dull moment in his telling of his life from teen to present. I can't wait for the 41-80 follow-up! Seriously, if you're a Gavin fan GET THE AUDIO VERSION NOW!!!
I seriously struggled to get through this book. That said, I found Gavin on Red Eye and loved him. I thought he was a cool straight laced man about the same age as I, but soon cringed reading his life story in this book. Everyone has things in their past that might sound scary to someone else, but this book certainly broke that mold. Did I laugh out loud? You bet, would I share this book with my family? Noooooooo!
Best audiobook I've read to date. The real story of Vice magazine was really eye opening and after hearing these stories it's pretty obvious Gavin was everything brilliant about Vice
This book hit me at right time. Gavin tells a good story and his cast of characters is truely entertaining. I bet I could party with guy not that he has grass.
his cast of characters
not really , but i don't think any book is.
Recommended - "guilty pleasure" reading with a ring of truth.
Waaay too similar to some of my own experiences at times ...
No-holds-barred performance w/additional actors (including one of his kids?!) and biographically-authentic background sound (notably, actual audio footage from concert performances of his punk bands). Stellar - this is what an audiobook performance ought to be.
I've listened to many biographies and it is fascinating to learn of other peoples' experiences even if they haven't lead what most would consider to be an amazing life like a president or war hero. They can all be fascinating but I can't imagine someone being more honest than Gavin with this book. So many stories in it I've wanted to share with people even at the beginning of it. Gavin is a great guy and I recommend him to other humans.
obviously when his parents reacted to his first tattoo
Seen him on other videos and this is great
Can't stop thinking about it.
