The Death of Cool: From Teenage Rebellion to the Hangover of Adulthood | [Gavin McInnes]

The Death of Cool: From Teenage Rebellion to the Hangover of Adulthood

This is his story, or, rather, stories - lots of them, and all gut-punchingly hilarious, from that first far reach into a girl's tight jeans to turning forty with a cataclysmic party. In between you’ll hear about acid trips, threesomes, Nazi skinheads, his band Anal Chinook (Inuit for “warm wind”), Martians in northern Canada, throwing pedophiles in jail, dinner with the Clash, what happens when you crash Bill Maher's show wasted, and the true story of Vice magazine.

"Right Book at the Right time"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Death of Cool to be better than the print version?

This book hit me at right time. Gavin tells a good story and his cast of characters is truely entertaining. I bet I could party with guy not that he has grass.

What about Gavin McInnes’s performance did you like?

    his cast of characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

not really , but i don't think any book is.

    Story
    "Hysterical!"
What does Gavin McInnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'm so glad Gavin narrated, it made the experience that much more enjoyable. You get to hear him talking in the various accents of the people in his life, mimicking bodily sound effects, and most important you can hear the authentic emotion in his voice as only the person who lived the events can truly express.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It definitely made me laugh, but its not all comedy, there are sentimental parts too.

    Any additional comments?

Note that there is pornographic level detail in the stories and many of them involve drug use. If that doesn't scare you go ahead and get it. It's a interesting/crazy story of an interesting/crazy man with guaranteed laughs.

    Story
    "More like audio cinema ..."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Recommended - "guilty pleasure" reading with a ring of truth.

What did you like best about this story?

Waaay too similar to some of my own experiences at times ...

What about Gavin McInnes’s performance did you like?

No-holds-barred performance w/additional actors (including one of his kids?!) and biographically-authentic background sound (notably, actual audio footage from concert performances of his punk bands). Stellar - this is what an audiobook performance ought to be.

    "Fascinating and Insane"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Death of Cool to be better than the print version?

I've listened to many biographies and it is fascinating to learn of other peoples' experiences even if they haven't lead what most would consider to be an amazing life like a president or war hero. They can all be fascinating but I can't imagine someone being more honest than Gavin with this book. So many stories in it I've wanted to share with people even at the beginning of it. Gavin is a great guy and I recommend him to other humans.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Death of Cool?

obviously when his parents reacted to his first tattoo

Have you listened to any of Gavin McInnes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Seen him on other videos and this is great

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Can't stop thinking about it.
