Would you consider the audio edition of The Catholics Next Door to be better than the print version?

Yes, to hear Greg and Jennifer tell their story was one of the deciding factors in my purchase

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Catholics Next Door?

That couples need to keep time for themselves to refresh and cherish each other.

Have you listened to any of Greg Willits and Jennifer Willits ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Catholics Next Door?

It's ok to strive for perfection while we venture through our Catholic (Christian) lives, but to realize that God made us human and to accept our humaness in short comings.

    Any additional comments?

Thank you Jennifer and Greg, for your daily radio show on the Catholic channel, this book, and helping us realize the living the faith is a journey... but God has given us a map and a guide.

"A must for any Christian family not just Catholic!"
What did you love best about The Catholics Next Door?

I love how Greg and Jennifer can relate to all aspects of the Catholic family. As a father of three I find their guidance encouraging and can't wait to use some of the tips they have to help our family become even closer to the Lord. It is not overbearing at all from the Catholic standpoint, it is just the truth when it comes to the faith. This book will help all even non-catholics get a better understanding of family life and God, something that many American families suffer from a lack of, including my own. The title could attract more readers if it didn't have catholic in there but, and a big but, you can tell after reading it that they did not write it for money, they did not write it for glory. They wrote it like it was a mission handed to them by God to inspire catholic families, but again truth be told, as a convert to the Catholic church I think it would benefit any family desiring to be close to God. This book was recommended by a friend who listens to the show on xm radio. I was very hesitant to buy the book since I just didn't know about them at all, but now I am glad I did. Since I finished it, I now have nothing to listen to going back and forth to work but I plan on getting the XM radio so I can listen to their show! Thank Greg and Jennifer for a piece of work that I can tell you prayed to the holy spirit for guidance on, I hope all families can benefit from your book as I did. When is the next book??

"The first half is worth listening to."
What would have made The Catholics Next Door better?

I bought this book because I am currently taking RCIA classes to convert to Catholicism, and I wanted to listen to something that I could relate to. This book DID offer that - to a point. The fist half of the book was entertaining, insightful, and had great lessons/messages. Jennifer Willits is also a convert, so it was nice to hear about her ups and downs throughout her journey. I especially liked the chapter about the importance of putting your spouse first in order to keep a happy family and household - that your can't have a strong family without a strong marriage. This book truly had some great things to say.

However, halfway or 2/3 of the way through, the tone drastically changed. I was disappointed to find that it was suddenly very preachy. Greg and Jennifer Willits make an enormous point about how they had to literally throw away any movies and music with bad moral examples in order to feel close to God (I'm paraphrasing). This included any music with explicit lyrics, and one TV show that G.W. talks about being immoral is Happy Days, because the Fonz talks about unhooking a bra strap in one episode.

The Willits's also tell you that a big family shouldn't need more than one or two TV's in the house, then immediately follow that with saying they have 6 computers, iPads, iPods, etc., "But only one TV." The message goes from the very real struggle of being a Good Christian and a Good Catholic to what G. and J. Willits think is right for a true Christian household.

I don't doubt that their intentions were good, and if these things work for them, then great. I was thoroughly enjoying the book until the tone (and subject matter) changed. I did take away some good things, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one.
