The Lion of Lisieux

Any additional comments?

A beautiful account of child-like simplicity and complete dedication to Christ. Less a 'little flower' and more a lion, Saint Therese demonstrates heroic love, heroic virtue and an heroic prayer life. All primarily from her small village and nun's cell. Without this book she probably would have been unknown to the world, but she was certainly known by Our Lord.

My patron....

I have read this book many times through the years, and have tried to follow her “Little Way,” as much as I could. It is much harder to do than it would seem... The book itself is a classic, and more than a classic; it has guided many people through their lives.
The problem is the narrator... her pronunciation of Therese’s name is so far off as to be painful.
She pronounces her name as “TAY- rees,” and the name Teresa, or Therese, or many other pronunciations is very common; it’s not like it is an unknown word. The names of other French words: towns and names, are also fractured.
It would be no problem, except as I was gliding along on the wings of the narrative, lost in the story, all of a sudden: *BANG* a misplaced pronunciation would slam me back to the present day.
I will get used to it- I guess I have to.

An inspiring still classic, well read

An inspiring spiritual classic, well read. This young nun, who loved a hidden life in the cloister, is now a beloved saint and a doctor of the Church.

A testimonial of a humble mistycal life.

What made the experience of listening to The Autobiography of Saint Therese of Lisieux the most enjoyable?

As a Christian mostly atracted by the doctor of the church, reading this book is a entirely new experience. I could say that I have read a book such as a diary of love letters. St. Therese is immerse in love for Jesus. And I am glad to have this, for I take her example and will meditate how her love for Jesus may guide mine for Him. I strongly recommend this book, for we all fools in need of learning from the most humble lovers of the Lord.

What about Sherry Kennedy Brownrigg’s performance did you like?

Pleasant, soft, passionate narration. I love her voice. Could merry her only for the sweetness of her performance. I am glad for her contribution.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me meditate in the mystery of loving Jesus in another perspective.

Any additional comments?

If you are a Crhirstian, specially a catholic, read it and try hardly to learn from this saint's life.

Transcendent wisdom... and THEN some.

This is perhaps the most beautiful book upon which I have ever stumbled. It is as though Thérèse and I are one soul in the same, yearning for the same path and Divine light, becoming of the same surrender to Christ. Beautifully written — simple yet powerful, I will keep this book close to my heart and no doubt listen to it time and time again. I feel so small in comparison to both she and her deeds, yet through her words I understand that our intention is one and the same. Bless her writings and bless this wonderful, transformative work of hers. Truly she is a saint whose standards to which we can aspire. Thanks be to God for sharing her with us and her triumph of a story. Blessings to each and every soul who should hear of and read the words herein. An absolute treasure, this book.
