Through meditation, stories, and the meeting of Buddhism and psychology, the Dalai Lama shows us how to defeat day-to-day depression, anxiety, anger, jealousy, or just an ordinary bad mood. He discusses relationships, health, family, work, and spirituality to show us how to ride through life's obstacles on a deep, abiding source of inner peace. Based on 2,500 years of Buddhist meditations and with a healthy dose of common sense, The Art of Happiness is a program that crosses the boundaries of all traditions to help listeners with the difficulties common to all human beings.

"... this is one of the best how-to books a reader will ever find." (Booklist)
"[It]is not only an excellent supplement to daily self-awareness practices, it is also an indispensable educational tool." (AudioFile)
sometimes I feel detached from this world, the things that should make sense dont and the things that makes sense don't really make me feel like a better person. Nice to know that in such a big place my perspective matters and my attachments are just that. The art of happiness is refreshing to both the mind and heart. This book doesnt make me feel like I have it all figured out but I like the advice and the guidance to the right path, more importantly my path and if its happiness it will only be out of choice of having a positive out look. I hope you enjoyed this as much as i did.
Be kind whenever possible.... It is always possible ~ Dahli Lama
A moving book. I listened twice back to back..and will continue to use this book as a reference.. Truly inspirational.
One of the best.
Matthieu Richard Skills of Happiness is a great companion for this book.
I enjoy the hearing the different voices in books. You can get that from reading it.
No. I like to break down books like this so I can think about them. Its a great book to listen to over and over.
I downloaded this book while experiencing a personal loss. It was super helpful in focusing on what is important, protecting my happiness and letting go.
I loved the tie in between the conversation between the author and the Dalai Lama and the group lectures. The alliteration was spot on and I could easily visualize scenes.
I want to go back and listen to the meditations again and try them.
