In her first work of nonfiction, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood recounts her experiences on Gilmore Girls - the first and second times - and shares stories about life, love, and working in Hollywood. This collection of essays is written in the intimate, hilarious, and down-to-earth voice that made her novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, a New York Times best seller.
"This book contains some stories from my life: the awkward growing up years, the confusing dating years, the fulfilling working years, and what it was like to be asked to play one of my favorite characters again. You probably think I'm talking about my incredible achievement as Dolly in Hello, Dolly! as a Langley High School junior, a performance my dad called 'you're so much taller than the other kids.' But no! I'm talking about Lorelai Gilmore, who, back in 2008, I wasn't sure I'd ever see again. Also included: tales of living on a houseboat, meeting guys at awards shows, and that time I was asked to be a butt model. A hint: all three made me seasick." (Lauren Graham)

As much as I love her and look to her as a mother figure, I didn't know her other than as her GG persona. But she's exactly as you would expect. She is the real life Gilmore girl. Thank you Lauren for giving me the closure (or is it?) that I needed in order to move on with my life knowing that Lorelai Gilmore really does exist.
I am not one to give books or in this case audiobooks stunning reviews with every aspect earning 5 of 5 stars. I will not pretend I came upon this book by accident or because it was in my recommendations but entirely because I am both a Lauren Graham and Gilmore Girls fan. Although I am a fan, I was more focused on the stories she had to share and words she chose to write them with rather than the fact that this was a peek in to her life. I will be honest, I almost never read celebrity memoirs but this book made me feel a range of emotions, and the combination of Graham's written words and her voice reading it, made every line feel wonderfully genuine. It does not need to be compared and contrasted to other books because this is her unique story. She is very intelligent, and witty, and she sprinkled this book with many valuable pieces of advice that I believe anyone from eight to eighty years old could use. It was a pleasure to listen to and quite inspiring. The non linear story line also helps to emphasize the purpose of every chapter. I hope to one day be able to publish a book of my own and the advice from one of her mentors that she shares with us towards the end of her book has really stressed the importance of writing everyday and learning to make it less of a dreaded task and more so something necessary and enjoyable. Thank you Lauren for sharing these quirky anecdotes and invaluable peices of advice with us.
This audiobook is one of the best I've heard.
Not only was the book itself absolutely amazing, but having Lauren read it made it a million times better. I need like ten more of these books girl!
I never have finished a book in one sitting until now, yep about 4 and a half hours and funny it didn't seem that long. I say book because on top of the audio version I just finished listening to I followed along with the book, your welcome Ms. Graham! I Laughed some and said atta girl in others for choices she made. Either version or both you can't go wrong.
Talking As Fast As I Can was everything and more! You feel like you sitting down with Lauren and laughing along with her! So much wit. And it was fantastic to hear/read her thoughts of her career & see her entries of the revival! Makes you heart swell! I definitely have some tear stains near the end of my book. Can't wait for whats to come with her new book in the future!
Great book and to Lauren, herself, is great. How can audible listeners see the referenced photos?
Listening to Lauren Graham read Talking As Fast As I Can is like sitting with her as she tells you all her fantastic stories. The book is well written and so engaging. A must read for any Gilmore fan!
The only downside is that you can't refer to the photos she references in the book.
"Gilmore Girls Mania"
If you recently watched the Netflix Reboot of Gilmore Girls, then you will love this. I watched the 4 episodes and was left wanting more, and Lauren Graham's biography helped provide something a little extra. You got to hear her journey during the filming of the reboot and she gave you some great anecdotes of her life and the characters in it. And yes, she does talk fast but isn't that what you love about her and Gilmore Girls!
I adored the Gilmore Girls tv series and any more time spent in stars hollow was a bonus. I liked the revival but not with the same enthusiasm as the original run. However, listening to Lauren Graham talk about her love and passion for the tv show is a wonderful companion piece.
When I rewatch the revival, I can look out for all the things she highlighted with a fresh viewpoint.
I liked parenthood a lot though have yet to finish the series.
This book is a must if you're a fan of Lauren Graham.
"You've been Gilmored!"
Loved, loved, loved this book! Lauren shows why she became the heart of such a fantastic show. As a single mother myself, the character of Lorelai was someone who spoke to me and she became my 'spirit animal' - of for no other reason than the fact she drank as much coffee as I do! It was wonderful to get to hear the story of the woman who brought this amazing character to life and to hear it in her own words and voice was truly special. Thank you, Lauren xoxo
"Very disappointing in style and content"
entertaining because it was read by the author in a style reminiscent of the character she played in Gilmore Girls, but it was very disappointing in style and content. It is a series of random observations without theme or insight. The whole thing has an ill considered hastily thrown together feel to it.
As my first audiobook I was really excited to listen to one of my favourite stars from one of my all time favourite TV shows. Thank you for keeping me company through anxiety, walks to work, and cooking.
"The amazing Lauren Graham does it again!"
Loved, loved, loved this book! Hearing Lauren tell her own story made it even better!
the book is amazing and it's definatley a cliff hanger, love Lauren graham and her voice is fab, best couple of hours spent in ages.
"From a Gilmore Girls fan..."
Waited for this book to be available to download since pre-ordering it months ago.
I'm a huge Lauren graham fan, and after downloading 'Someday Someday Maybe' and enjoying her narrating the story I knew I had to do the same here.
Who better to tell the story of her life (and Gilmore Girls) than the woman herself?
The book is narrated in a way that you'd imagine her telling stories. It's fun, energetic and perfect for a true fan girl like myself whilst, occasionally, catching you off guard when talking about those last Gilmore Girls days.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the whole book but it felt so special having her discuss seasons 1-7 of the wonderful Gilmore clan, stars hollow and all the towns people. Following that there are talks about her Parenthood days (another show I'm fond of) ending perfectly with the diary kept during the filming of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.
I look forward to hearing her next book, something about a monkey?
from start to finish i enjoyed this book more than any other that i have read.
Lauren Graham is an excellent writer and actress.
throughout this book i both laughed and shed a tear or two.
... that cliffhanger though, i understand what you mean.
