In Son of Hamas, Mosab Yousef—now called “Joseph”—reveals new information about the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization and unveils the truth about his own role, his agonizing separation from family and homeland, the dangerous decision to make his newfound faith public, and his belief that the Christian mandate to “love your enemies” is the only way to peace in the Middle East.

    "Absolutely riveting!!!"
Where does Son of Hamas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best non-fiction audio books that I've ever listened to. Every Christian and Muslim needs to hear his story. It will give you much insight into the situation in the Middle East from a different perspective than you've probably heard.I always hear the struggle from the view point of Western Christians and I've often wanted to hear the story from the side of a Palestinian who honestly wanted peace and truth.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Son of Hamas?

My heart ached for Mosab's family as I read the story, motivating me to pray for them. I have a Muslim friend whom I want to give the book to. She is a Palestinian Israeli and I know that she longs for peace. I pray that his story might lead her to that Peace. Most definitely worth the price of purchase and the time invested to listen.

"Very insightful look at the underbelly of Hamas."

Just finished Son of Hamas by Mosab Hassan Yousef. I found it pretty insightful and easy to follow. He gives you the perspective of a young Palestinian man growing up in the occupied territories. I found it interesting how he eventually saw the dirty underbelly of a corrupt terrorist organization and worked with the Israeli's secret police to try and incapacitate it. His views on Christianity are eye opening. A great book to read if you're at all interested in the Palestinian peace process. The narration is very well done.

"Real insight into middle eastern culture"
Would you consider the audio edition of Son of Hamas to be better than the print version?

I cannot compare since I did not read the printed version of this book.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was presented in a non-predijucal manner. It was like reading a tradegy. And there are still no answers.

    No

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    A Middle east Tradegy

I read a lot of self development books, and while this book is not considered part of that genre it may have changed my way of thinking as much or more than most of the others.

"There's at least a slight chance"
What made the experience of listening to Son of Hamas the most enjoyable?

As the courageous authors points out, there's a at least a small chance that minds can be changed and the violence can stop. Maybe some people in the Middle East will read this book and question the tactics being used. The religious zealots will never give up the power but perhaps some young people can be spared from fanaticism.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Masab, his courage is unbelievable.

"Should be required reading or listening."
Would you consider the audio edition of Son of Hamas to be better than the print version?

The author is also the narrator. His words come alive in the narration as he is speaking from the heart.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Son of Hamas?

The whole thing is memorable, suspenseful and spiritual.

What about Mosab Hassan Yousef’s performance did you like?

His ability to communicate with clarity, detail, honesty and humility concerning matters of religious and political controversy. are amazing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Redemption in Palestine. It is being made into a film called The Green Prince, released mid September 2014.

    Any additional comments?

I haven't felt this riveted or inspired by a book since reading Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken, which has a similar theme of forgiveness among enemies and personal and cross-cultural redemption. The book is at once an espionage thriller and a sermon that enlightens my perceptions of Israelis, Palestinians and deepens my Christian faith. It gives me hope for the Middle East where I have felt so little.

"Listen with an open mind- Extremely gripping"
Would you listen to Son of Hamas again? Why?

I would listen again because the author's honest insider's appraisal of the struggle of the Palestinian people feels authentic, well-researched and insightful. I cannot remember ever being so drawn to a book, superbly written and read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Both the author and his father, because they are men of integrity with good intentions for their people, yet have very different tactics on how to help them.

    Any additional comments?

For anyone searching for insights into the world that we live in today, and struggle to understand why Islamic extremists at the heart of far too many world conflicts, this is a must-read. It sheds light on a very sad situation but gives a glimmer of hope that the situations can be overcome.
