Publisher's summary

When the Navy sends their elite, they send the SEALs. When the SEALs send their elite, they send SEAL Team Six—a secret unit tasked with counterterrorism, hostage rescue, and counterinsurgency.

In this dramatic, behind-the-scenes chronicle, Howard Wasdin takes listeners deep inside the world of Navy SEALs and Special Forces snipers, beginning with the grueling selection process of Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL - the toughest and longest military training in the world.

After graduating, Wasdin faced new challenges. First, there was combat in Operation Desert Storm as a member of SEAL Team Two. Then, the Green Course: the selection process to join the legendary SEAL Team Six (ST6), with a curriculum that included practiced land warfare to unarmed combat. More than learning how to pick a lock, they learned how to blow the door off its hinges.

Finally, as member of ST6, he graduated from the most storied and challenging sniper program in the country: the Marine Corps Scout Sniper School. Eventually, of the 18 snipers in ST6, Wasdin became the best—which meant one of the best snipers on the planet.

Less than half a year after sniper school, he was fighting for his life. The mission: capture or kill Somalian warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. From rooftops, helicopters, and alleys, Wasdin hunted Aidid and killed his men whenever possible. But everything went quickly to hell when his small band of soldiers found themselves fighting for their lives, cut off from help and desperately trying to rescue downed comrades during a routine mission. The Battle of Mogadishu, as it became known, left 18 American soldiers dead and 73 wounded. Howard Wasdin had both of his legs nearly blown off while engaging the enemy. His explosive combat tales and inside details of becoming one of the world’s deadliest snipers combine to make this the most thrilling and important memoir by a navy SEAL since Lone Survivor.

Incredible Storyline

Wow! Just, wow! I couldn’t stop listening to this book. Every chance I could get I turned this audio on and listened. I even made my husband listen and he’s not a reader or audible fan and he enjoyed this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone whose looking to gather an insight to what modern day war looks like.

great book

What made the experience of listening to SEAL Team Six the most enjoyable?

The stories

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no But thats just me i can,t sit and listen to a book for 10 or 11 hours

Any additional comments?

i have been listening to many of the Seal related books. In some ways they blend together because of the similar information in them. But as a guy who was never in the Military they have all been great stories to listen to as I drive.

Outstanding and gripping!

I loved this book. I listen to books while I work, and I worked late into the night listening to this story. It's well written and engaging and I learned a lot about the process to become a SEAL , plus their travels. These men are truly remarkable in everything they do, and even though we view them as superheroes, this book reminds us they are human. I really felt a connection to the men in the book, and was always saddened when something happened to one of them. It's like a really great action movie, except that these are real people you find yourself rooting for and being in awe of. Definitely listen to this book!
PS Thank you to ALL military for your service😀

A Good All Around Book On One Members Experiences

Would you listen to SEAL Team Six again? Why?

Yes. It was interesting and engaging.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Howard Wasdin was my favorite Character because the book goes into his upbringing and life, and how they played into his life as a SEAL.

Which scene was your favorite?

The sections on SEAL training were my favorite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was very sad when he got out of the SEALs and particularlyl SEAL Team 6 and took some lower level jobs to get by. It didn't seem right. Gladly this was not the end of the story.

Any additional comments?

It's good to read books like this to help appreciate what must be done by some to maintain our freedoms.

FANTASTIC S.E.A.L. book! GREAT Narrator!

Unlike most of the other SEAL books currently popular on Audible, this one mainly takes place during the Somalia conflicts in the 90's. The nice thing about that is, since it's old enough, the author is able to divulge really great details about his missions, his weaponry, and other gear a 90's SEAL operator would have used. So for anyone who really is interested to hear all the nit and gritty details of SEAL tactics and gear, this will definitely satisfy your appetite! The narrator is soooo good at reading the material, that when I went back to look at the book details, I was surprised to learn he wasn't actually the author! The author also does a great job of chronilogically showcasing all the events that have shaped his life from childhood, to the SEALs, to his post-military career! I definitely recommend this book, and was hooked from just the first chapter alone!
