Publisher's summary

Devastated by the early death of her best friend, the author forges a relationship with her friend’s severely disabled adult daughter. This essay tackles assumptions about disability and loss and details how a shared love of clothing, laughter, and their mutual need for warmth and intimacy revives the connection to the dead friend the author feared was forever lost.

Bourgeoisie hippie

I expected a more heartwarming story about bonding with a deceased loved one’s child, but it was mostly a leftist monologue, an insecure barren woman teetering between socialism and her own materialism, between superficial and deep. I had a few eye rolls but it was short so I stayed with it and I’m glad I did. The narrator was great.

Short

This is a short essay, a sketch of the implications of loss, disability, friendship, and fashion.

Best friends bonding over shopping, thru life.

This was an easy listen. The author created vivid images of the women, the lifestyles and the times. You felt like you were there with them, going thru the ups and downs of their lives. Love filled lives.
