Publisher's summary

Completed just four years after his escape from Tibet and four years after completing his religious education, the Dalai Lama's classic text on Buddhist philosophy is a thorough but succinct overview of Buddhist doctrines as they have been practiced in Tibet for a thousand years. Among the many topics the Dalai Lama discusses in his work are the need for religious peace, the path to achieving meditative stabilization, reincarnation, and the importance of kindness and compassion. This invaluable handbook provides a compendium of Buddhist doctrine and practice that is both dense and rich - serving at once as a summation of knowledge and as an invitation to further study.

Too brief to follow

This is not your introduction to Buddhist thought. it is too condensed and needs a commentary. if you have some background, this may work as an overview of the tradition from a Tibetan point of view.

INTERESTING

This is the first book of a series of three books written by the Dalai Lama, when he was a young man, just in exile in India from Tibet. I bought the physical book, so I can better follow the content and also a book I can easily refer to.
It is astounding to realize the knowledge of one so young. I recommend the book to those who are interested in studying Buddhism. It is not an easy book to absorb all the information, at least it was not for me.
My thanks to the narrator and all who were involved in making the book available to us, JK.
