Amy Purdy, who inspired a nation on Dancing with the Stars and has been called a hero by Oprah Winfrey, reveals the intimate details of her triumphant comeback from the brink of death to making history as a Paralympic snowboarder.
In this poignant and uplifting memoir, Dancing with the Stars sensation Amy Purdy reveals the story of how losing her legs led her to find a spiritual path. When the Las Vegas native was just 19, she contracted bacterial meningitis and was given less than a two percent chance of survival. Her glimpse of the afterlife - coupled with a mysterious premonition she'd had a month before - became the defining experiences that put Amy's life on a new trajectory after her legs had to be amputated. She wouldn't just beat meningitis and walk again; she would go on to create a life filled with bold adventures, big dreams, and boundless vitality - and share that spirit with the world. In 2014 Amy - the only competitor, male or female, with two prosthetic legs - claimed a bronze medal for the US Paralympic team in adaptive snowboarding. She then became a contestant on season 18 of Dancing with the Stars, and viewers were captivated as the girl with bionic legs managed to out-dance her competitors all the way to the finale.
Amy's journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity we all have to dream bigger, defy expectations, and rewrite our stories. Amy was given a second chance for a reason - to use her life to inspire others. Her powerful memoir urges us to live life to the fullest, because we are all a lot more capable than we could ever imagine.

Amy Purdy tells her story so honestly and so well. I found myself laughing out loud and getting emotional in parts. She is incredible and yet humble. She has lived an extraordinary life and overcame the odds through faith and a belief in herself.
When Amy embraced her new legs as part of her, I knew she'd be unstoppable.
This has been my favorite audible book. The story is well written, the narrator does a great job of telling it, and it's interesting from the first word until the last. I feel very inspired. I listened on my long runs, and ran even further just so I could continue to listen. Amy shows how each person has extraordinary potential if they tap in to it. Life won't be all roses after you make that decision, she faced numerous set backs but she faced each one and each set back led to better opportunities and further growth because she refused to give in and has faith she has a purpose. Something she tells her readers they all have. This isn't just her story but how each of us have the same ability to overcome our own personal and physical obstacles. A very motivating read!
Easy read. Tried to put myself in her place and I don't know if I would have had the courage and commitment to carry on with the obstacles she overcame. Amy epitomizes the spirit and "can do" attitude she possesses as she works through her life struggles. Ultimately becoming very successful in everything she set out to do. Feel good story. Thanks for sharing your journey Amy Purdy!

I couldn't put this down I had my ear buds in every second I could. I will listen to this book many times bc I have a feeling there is so much I can learn which can only be done by listen again amd again. you will not be unhappy with this purchase. a must read for anyone
I read a lot of motivational books, but Amy's story of her tragic ordeal and how a once vibrant young girl managed to not only make sense of it all, but succeeding beyond even her own wildest dreams. it's an inspiration to us all that we can do this thing called life, no matter what it throws at us.
I had a hard time connecting to the story. I felt like her point was a bit Disneyish--just think happy thoughts and all will be well. I'm curious to compare her experience with others who have had amputations.
