Kathy Griffin has won Emmys for her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, been nominated for a Grammy, worked and walked every red carpet known to man, and rung in the New Year with Anderson Cooper. But the legions of fans who pack Kathy's sold-out comedy shows have heard only part of her remarkable story. Writing with her trademark wit, the feisty comic settles a few old scores, celebrates the friends and mentors who helped her claw her way to the top, and shares insider gossip about celebrity behavior - the good, the bad, and the very ugly. She recounts the crazy ups and downs of her own career and introduces us to some of the supertalented people she encountered before they got famous (or, in some cases, after fame went to their heads). Word to the wise: If you've ever crossed Kathy Griffin at some point in your life, check the index for your name.
Along the way, Kathy reveals intimate details about her life before and after she made the big time. She opens up about everything from growing up with a dysfunctional family in suburban Illinois to bombing as a young comedian in L.A., from her well-publicized plastic surgery disasters to her highly publicized divorce, and more. Only in this book will you learn how the dinner table is the best training ground for a career in stand-up, how speaking your mind can bite you on the ass and buy you a house, and which people in Kathy's life have taught her the most valuable lessons - both inside and outside the entertainment industry.
Refreshingly candid and full of hilarious "Did she really say that?" moments.

Although I wouldn't really call this book "the most hilarious thing ever," I would say that it was witty, perhaps nostalgic, somewhat sad, and very comical. Kathy is a very funny person, and this transcends to her writing. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER, if you just want a cheap laugh, this is not it. It's a personal MEMOIR, and not everything can be funny. Some is sad, some nostalgic, and some really funny. If you are looking for a cheap laugh and not the full ride, don't buy it. If you LOVE/LIKE K.G, then please buy it. You will love it! I did.
Kathy is the master of honest and crazy storytelling. I loved this book and especially appreciated Kathy's honesty.
This audiobook I think was the only one for which I HAD to drop everything and finish listening to that day. How can you not love Kathy Griffin, who makes an art of being confessional, reading her own autobiography?
For any Kathy fan you should get this book. She really opens up about her life, her husband, and family. It's a great insight to a hilarious woman. I can't wait and hope there is another book coming out. Way to go Kathy!
You will love this book. I have been a fan since the beginning of time and she still keeps it real and very very funny. You won't be disappointed!
I am very picky about audiobooks, and this one is great! A good combination of humor and autobiography. Kathy's reading of her own work is genius. The audio version has some added tidbits that are not in the print version, making it even more worth the money.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought Kathy revealed her life in a very candid and honest way. She's amazing, funny and very revealing. She's a friend who everyone needs at least one of . . . someone who tells it how it is!
This audio book shows that as natural as Kathy Griffin's comedy seems, it took a lot of hard work for it to come across, live and on screen. This is a person who learned from and utilized both positive and negative experiences in her life, making her down to earth, human and most of all truly funny. Kudos to her. I wish her continued success.
WHAT A GREAT STORY>>>I felt as if I was just listenin' to my good friend Kathy.... talkin' about her "D" List life & how she clawed her way to the top to become a household name....(Oh and NOT TO WORRY...I mean this in the MOST non-stalkerish, I know you're not REALLY my friend way possible!)
I needed a lively listen for my drive to Pittsburgh today. This was exactly the right pick. Never a dull moment. Kathy talks to the listener just like she does in her live performances and TV show. Not a book to play with kids in the car, but I sure enjoyed it on my solo trip.
