Publisher's Summary

For the first time anywhere, the first-person account of the planning and execution of the Bin Laden raid from a Navy Seal who confronted the terrorist mastermind and witnessed his final moments....

From the streets of Iraq to the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean, and from the mountaintops of Afghanistan to the third floor of Osama Bin Laden's compound, operator Mark Owen of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group - commonly known as SEAL Team Six - has been a part of some of the most memorable special operations in history, as well as countless missions that never made headlines.

No Easy Day puts listeners alongside Owen and the other handpicked members of the 24-man team as they train for the biggest mission of their lives. The blow-by-blow narrative of the assault, beginning with the helicopter crash that could have ended Owen's life straight through to the radio call confirming Bin Laden's death, is an essential piece of modern history. In No Easy Day, Owen also takes listeners onto the field of battle in America's ongoing War on Terror and details the selection and training process for one of the most elite units in the military.

Owen's story draws on his youth in Alaska and describes the SEALs' quest to challenge themselves at the highest levels of physical and mental endurance. With boots-on-the-ground detail, Owen describes numerous previously unreported missions that illustrate the life and work of a SEAL and the evolution of the team after the events of September 11.

In telling the true story of the SEALs whose talents, skills, experiences, and exceptional sacrifices led to one of the greatest victories in the War on Terror, Mark Owen honors the men who risk everything for our country, and he leaves listenres with a deep understanding of the warriors who keep America safe.

    "Just OK..."

I had expectations of this book to be more focused on the mission that killed Bin Laden, and the details around that mission. Instead this books first half is about the main character and his personal life and background, as well as life as being a navy seal in general. Very macho and did not like this part much. Reflections of the narrator as well were poor and naive. Interesting part about the Bin Laden mission though, but too short.

    "Fascinating! Patriotic! Intriguing! Revealing!"

This is a fascinating and well-written book gives an insight to how our Navy Seals are protecting our freedoms on a daily basis. It just isn't about the Usama Bin Laden (UBL) mission, but goes much deeper than that. Hats off to the men and women in the Seals who are serving their country. I had no clue what goes into each and every mission they are involved in; it truly is amazing. Mark Owen does an excellent and honest job describing these missions and dispels many of the false media reports that followed the UBL mission.

I want to feel good when I complete a story & am a little harsh on depressing ones. There are a few sad ones that I love but not many.

Great story but the volume and tone of the speaker changed quite often. There just was not consistancy in the reading to the point of distraction.

"Take down Enemy #1~ Part Bio Part History~5 STARS"

PLOT: Seal Bio and the plan to take down Bin Laden~

Mark Owen is an AKA~ pseudo~to HIDE the idenity of a real life Navy Seal who was Part of the SEAL TEAM 6~ Anit-Terrorism Navy Seals~ Owen who has a hero worship of Seals from his youth. Getting to be a SEAL is no easy task. They are the elite of the elite both physically and mentally. TEXT book is the phrase he uses to perfect his sit ups and mental strength. He outlines the training in details but ADDS his own human side which keeps us interested. This drags at first. AFTER all it is a 6 hour audio and part way through brings us back to the PLOT and and deeds of Bin Laden. the HEART POUNDING trip into the Bin Laden Compound to" GET HIM"~ is first rate and keeps you glued to the story. WE learn details we did not read or hear before. And CLEARS UP the inaccurate news reported by the press of the mission. BETTER than I expected. THE "details" are what ADDS the very human faces of REAL life SEALS and YOU have a 5 STAR audiobook. Plot is first rate and READER is 4 STARS~ and over all 5 STAR. I was skeptical all the HYPE would live up to the reality but I give this over all a 5 STAR for the mission alone and close up LOOK into the mission and life of a Navy SEAL~ ** THE AUTHOR details that he is using NON RESTRICTED MILITARY INFO ALSO he claims that all details involving seal activity has been published before can be found in published forms (internet or books or newspapers).and he also states an independant expert has verify all material used in the book was non restricted. This info is stated in the forward of the audio. VERY good STORY.

"Incredible Story!!! No reason to be controversial!"
Would you consider the audio edition of No Easy Day to be better than the print version?

I liked listening to the book, the narrator did an incredible job.

What did you like best about this story?

It is incredible to see what these men had to go through to be ready and prepared for years prior to this mission. Their sacrifices are unbelievable...makes you very proud to be an American.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just finished Feerless the story of Seal Team 6 member Adam Brown a week before and hearing his friends a short time later take on this mission was quite powerful, and sad to imagine what these guys and their families go through. Such a sacrifice is made, and we are at home complaining about our lives all the time. We have nothing to complain about...these guys are incredible.

    "Intense insight"

The Bin Laden event sounded so simple and clear cut. Read the book. Amazing, scary, insightful and - as though I didn't respect SEALS enough already - that respect has multiplied exponentially.

My favorite genres are absurdist humor, Sci-fi & modern fantasy, but, as you can see, I'll read just about anything. Don't mind the typos.

...and we did not fail. Thank you. All you brave men and women who brought justice to nation. This is a credit worthy listen. We know how to raise them right in Alaska and Mark Owen, (or whatever your name is) and his team, have done this nation proud.

"Bin Laden Rain in a SEAL Team Six Career"

Mark Owen of the US Naval Special Warfare Development Group (SEAL Team Six) has written the first book about the killing of Osama Bin Laden by one who participated in the operation. Actually, the book is mostly about his career as a SEAL and the final chapters deal with the Bin Laden operation. Those chapters follow his first hand telling of prior such actions. Further, there has been much talk in the press about “secrets” being revealed perhaps. Yet, in the forward, Owen clearly states that he had a military lawyer vet everything in the book and nothing is reveal that isn’t in the public domain or press. The book, however, is a good addition to this genre. Readers come away with a better picture of what SEALs do and their contributions to the nation’s defense. It has exciting passages and insights into how the members of SEAL Team Six prepared for the encounter with Bin Laden are instructive. If you have an interest in reading the first book out – buy it and turn some pages. If you are expecting a lot of secret information about US operations, you might be disappointed. The reading of Holter Graham is excellent.

"Why is everybody in an uproar over this book?"

I finished listening to it today as well as buying it today. If I recall from other books I have listened to about the Navy Seals it wasn't revealing much that I haven't heard already. I feel it was an excellent book. Every man that was in this fight was AKA's no real names used. He also said he consulted a lawyer that deals with special warfare. Obviously some people think this was something WRONG that the author wrote about. My honest opinion is every american should listen to this book. The liberal media and as they say in the book, "The Washington Machine" want to control everything. I mean look at what they did to our service men and women with the ROE (rules of engagement). War is war and has been that way for years. I give big congrats to ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE US MILITARY. The guy who wrote this is a hero and all the men that were on this mission are hero's. No question about it.

"Ignore the politics, this is an EYE opening book"
What made the experience of listening to No Easy Day the most enjoyable?

Just hearing the struggles that the operators have to go through day in and day out of deployment, work-up, and deployment again. The best part, while I get a good book out of the deal a portion of the book sales go the families of fallen seals.
