Publisher's summary

Welcome to the hilarious, strange, elegiac, outrageous world of David Sedaris. In Naked, Sedaris turns the current mania for the memoir on its proverbial ear, mining the exceedingly rich terrain of his life, his family, and his unique worldview, a sensibility at once take-no-prisoners sharp and deeply charitable. A tart-tongued mother does dead-on imitations of her young son's nervous tics, to the great amusement of his teachers; a stint of Kerouackian wandering is undertaken (of course!) with a quadriplegic companion. Through it all is Sedaris's unmistakable voice, without a doubt one of the freshest in American writing.

Critic reviews

"Sidesplitting." (The New York Times Book Review)
"Genuinely funny, at times hilarious....Makes for a smashing use of audio as a unique entertainment medium....Highly likable and spirited throughout...makes a case for audio as its own special form." (Publishers Weekly)
"Sedaris is a gifted satirist with an uncanny knack for re-creating dialogue and revealing fantasies....Brutally honest and brilliantly eloquent, Sedaris is positively tonic." (Booklist)

Hysterical !!

L M A O !!!! This is a great read for whenever you want to laugh. It's especially funny to listen to.....both David Sedaris and Amy Sedaris will have you laughing out loud, unless for some reason you haven't any sense of humor in which case I highly don't recommend.

Dark, Funny, and Well Done

Like other works of his, this is dark, funny, and superb. I like this type of book because it is just something different – nothing complicated and hard to follow, however it has substance.

Poignant and funny

I really enjoy his vignettes! They are poignant and funny. I listened to the audiobook, and was surprised when I came to the ending - shorter than I was expecting!

Very funny

I listened to this on a long trip. Not only did it keep me awake, but it kept me looking for rest stops, since I thought I might pee myself from laughing so hard.

Sedaris at his best!

No other book has ever made me literally laugh out loud. David and Amy are great. His deadpan delivery is spot on. And his hints of sarcasm are all the more biting when hearing it as opposed to reading it. One of the best in this genre.
