Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of My Story by Steven Gerrard, read by Michael Ryan.
Steven Gerrard is the former captain of Liverpool football team and of the England national football team and is the only player ever to have scored in a FA cup final, a league cup final, a UEFA cup final and a champion's league final. His entire career, since 1998, has been spent at Anfield with Liverpool.
In this audiobook he charts his full playing career, shedding light on the defining games, his life off the pitch as well as the players and managers he's encountered. Explosive, controversial and searingly honest, this will be the last word from an era-defining player.

although I'm a Man United fan yet I admire and respect this guy.

Wow. Just finished this audiobook and I am nearly at a loss for words. Been a Liverpool supporter for over a dozen years, and this book taps directly into all the emotions over that period of time. The elations of Istanbul to the slip against Chelsea. Stevie truly has an incredible story to match his incredible career. This is a MUST for any Liverpool fan and any soccer/football fan for that matter.
As for the narration, it's well done. He nearly sounds like Gerrard is reading the book himself! There were a few patches where the cadence of each sentence was too similar and you can drift, but it's a small gripe for an overall great performance.
What a book. What a beauty.
They found a wonderful narrator and it is more artfully told than I expected (ie) it narrates the last two seasons while also dipping deftly into the most important moments of his career.
I loved this book. The reader has a Liverpool accent which makes for a great experience. It's as though you are actually listening to Stevie G at times. I'm an Arsenal supporter but this book is great for anyone who interested in learning about the history of Liverpool and understand the special relationship that city has with our beautiful game of football.
Loved the first third where he talks about Suarez's transfer saga, the slip season, England and the details of some of the memorable matches. Didn't like all the details about his injuries... Oh, and I wish he wrote a lot more about Istanbul!
Good story very interesting. Like I said I'm not a Liverpool fan but I am a Football fan and this is a good story from a great player.
Absolutely loved the accent of Michael Ryan. So soothing and what an emotional encounter from an absolute legend. Love you Stevie G!
brilliant throughout, it's just a shame the narrator cannot sing!!! awful way to describe the songs
"A Great Autobiography 5*"
This book gave such an honest look at Steven Gerrard the footballer, the fan and the man. The insight of the mind set and continued professionalism of possibly his country and clubs greatest player was intriguing and at times moving.
The performance of Michael Ryan was first class you could only hear Steven Gerrard as if it was from the man himself.
I would recommend this book to everyone football fan or not I was so glad I chose to purchase this book I genuinely loved it.
cracking book a most for a liverpool or any football fan. see the highs and lows. YNWA
great read, not even a Liverpool fan, but respect that man so much, brilliant book
What a story . Looking forward to his management career and then some new chapters. Wonderful ups and down and great narration by the speaker. A trip down memory lane also as I watched this guy every week . Speaker Sounds like Stevie enough . Really enjoyed this
"enjoyable from the start to the end. "
fantastic book. must read/listen. it became an addiction in the end just couldnt stop until finished.
"Brilliant book. easy to listen to. chilled voice"
just an ordinary guy being a dad. becomes and legend with extra ordinary player mental strength. thank you stevie for the memories.
carries the weight of expectations on his shoulders.... still behaves like an ordinary guy.
brilliant brilliant brilliant book
"Stevie Gerrard, born and bred."
I picked this up causally as I'm a casual Liverpool supporter, and have always been happy that Stevie G was our man. Reading the book, I absolutely loved the stories and the inner thoughts.
Its so recent that you wonder what some of the people he talks about will think when they hear what he has to say.
For the most part I really enjoyed this book although there were some parts which tended to drag on a little maybe perhaps too much detail about matches.
I did find it a little bit confusing at times as the book jumps around in events and years.
At times it felt like he was watching a reply and describing it as he was watching a replay rather than as he remembered it, but I guess after 700 games that's fair enough.
Stevie G is a really true and authentic individual and that comes across in his words and actions and I feel so much more for him after reading. HE IS AND WILL BE A TRUE KOP LEGEND.
I wish he had read his own autobiography rather than got some else in, or at least read the forward etc. But I think they may have sneaked his voice in to parts of the book.
Would like to have heard more about the big nights/matches but still a fantastic summary of 17 glorious years and makes me yearn for more.
A real role model for current and future footballers and will be a supremely difficult act to follow.
Great story of Steven's trials and tribulations and the insight of the managers and goings on in and outside of the club - thanks for the memories kidda. YNWA!!! 👍🍻
