The collection of quotes, stories, and prayers in this book are all her own words and experiences. They were compiled from various sources. Her undying faith and concern of the human spirit is reflected in these passages. In her years of work, Mother Teresa has brought God to millions in places of darkness. Let her share her hope, faith, and love with you.
Mother Teresa was a phenomenal individual. She was called by God to do great things. She reminds us that he did not also called us to do great things. The narration in this book is excellent. The parts where we hear recordings of Mother Teresa are sometimes difficult to understand, but overall well worth the effort. I would highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn about Mother Teresa and improves her own spiritual life.
I had the extreme pleasure of actually falling asleep to this book. Now, usually, when I fall asleep "listening" it's a frustrating exercise to try to find out where I actually stopped "listening". But in this case, I started dreaming ... with the book. Mother Teresa was sitting across from me at my kitchen table, telling me how to forgive people, grow in holiness and laugh more. I woke up with such peace and joy. I recommend and hope the same thing happens to you.
This is a great book because you can pretty much pop in anywhere and get some jewels of Mother Teresa's graceful answers to life's questions. Although the sound quality is sometimes quite poor and our little Albanian saint's accent can occasionally be difficult to understand it's still worth it.
There aren't many books in my 300+ audio collection that I really listen to over and over. Especially when you're dealing with difficult audio, but this one is a little gem.
What Mother Teresa says is wonderful, but there is a narrator who adds too much and is quite the distraction. The title should have been "In Her Own Words, and much more on how I interpret them and then some..." So why aren't there more clergy and religious that communicate Jesus Christ like Mother Teresa? My goodness, if they would just regurgitate her "own words" when speaking or when giving homilies, then people would be much more inspired and converted... but of course, she ALSO lived what she preached... or maybe its more that she preached what she actually lived.
I did like hearing Mother Teresa speak her own words but at times it was hard to understand the recording.
There were many memorable sayings. Mother telling her listeners that they do not have to go anywhere to start loving and helping. Start where you are. We are not called to succeed but to be faithful.
I was inpressed that she served and even encouraged people of other faiths to pray within their own faith.
Some of her saying have been over used and this dated the book for me. However, there were still a lot of inspirational thoughts.
