Melissa has been entertaining audiences most of her life; when there were no girls named Melissa on her favorite show, the forceful four year old decided she’d get on TV her way. From that moment on, Melissa has shown a singular determination and focus whether it’s for booking three national commercials so her dad would build her a tree house or for nailing the audition for Clarissa.
From her first commercial to her current starring role in ABC Family’s hit Melissa and Joey, Hart never let fame go to her head. She always had one foot in Hollywood and one foot in reality - and still does. Melissa makes us laugh along with her as she talks about:
Melissa Joan Hart explains all that she’s learned along the way - what’s kept her grounded, normal and working when others have not been so fortunate - and that she’s the approachable, hilarious girl-next-door her fans have always thought she’d be.

I'm a 25 year old mum to my beautiful nearly 2 yr old daughter and i LOVE books , both reading and listening to them :D
yes differently , if your a fan of her work this well ad to her awesomeness ! and if your not (your crazy) still a great listen
first that melissa is the narrator and to get a personal look into her life both with her work and personal life
that its her lol she does an awesome job !
5/5 listen, i listened in one go .. its now 4.36 am lol either use credit or buy wont regret it!!
I loved hearing about how Melissa got started as a child actor: being brought to auditions by her mom, with her gaggle of siblings; being rewarded with new toys for bagging commercials?! Crazy.
The most interesting aspect is that she seems to have turned out pretty normal (with an expected degree of self-involvement, but then again, it's a memoir).
The least interesting aspect is her relatively normal life these days: I was semi-interested in her meeting her husband and whatnot but then there's a whole chapter where she describes different types of theme parties she's planned and I'm shouting "Why am I listening to this??" (and I love theme parties).
No thank you.
I recommend it to mid-30s girls like me who grew up watching Clarissa Explains It All wondering what it would have been like to be her. It's fun following normal celebrities who are my age. Since I am Melissa's actual age (thus older than her Sabrina character), I didn't really watch Sabrina. I recently caught up on Melissa & Joey on Netflix and enjoyed it.
It was herself, real and familiar. I would not have purchased it otherwise. She did great.
Yes I pretty much did, and I felt like I was spending the day with Melissa. But I reeeeeeely had questions that I wanted to ask her and wished I was having an actual conversation.
I recommend this for some "light listening." I enjoyed listening to Melissa speak about her life and experiences, and a bit of behind the scenes. The book is exactly what it claims to be. Maybe when she is older she'll write another book which would be juicier!
No better way to describe this memoir. So well written and a story well told. Melissa tells her story in a way that makes you truly feel she's your friend, neighbor, sister, etc. She comes across so down to earth and just really reiterates that she is just a normal person who people happen to know and recognize for her body of work. I found myself rooting for her, hearing details of stories and times in her life I had heard about or remembered from magazines and tabloids but didn't have the whole scoop on, and crying tears of joy when she would succeed at something or during her proposal stories. I laughed out loud during the tales of the beginning stages of her relationship with her now husband and was just never bored with this memoir.
As a fan since the Clarissa days it's refreshing to feel like a role model truly deserves that title and legacy. Thanks for the stories Melissa! And listening to your stories from your mouth was even better! I highly recommend this read for any MJH fans or any person who ever questioned the relatable-mess of a celebrity.
I never read the print but this was an awesome version!
Just like a diary of your best girl friend!
Her down to earth, funny and honest nature!
Yes... the juicy stories and the funny stories made it hard to stop listening too
I loved Melissa Joan Hart before the book now even more. Shes not a phoney celebrity. Shes real and honest about her weaknesses and laughs at her mistakes. Shes the best funniest girl next door. I love her humor. Shes very pretty and has a kind soul. I know people that went to school with Joey Lawrence in Abington Friends and he's always been a nice person since Melissa and Joey are friends to me birds of a feather.....
Heartfelt, fun, interesting
I loved hearing about her life as a mom, and about her time on Sabrina.
oh yeah, I would have too...just needed more time!
bear with me this is my first review on audible.
I really enjoyed this book, I think you would too! :)
"This book needn't have been written"
I can't really say what I liked the best, nothing really stood out, which is quite representative of the book. What I liked the least is that she brought up things that you might tell your friends about, but certainly not write about in a book. I understand she is proud of her party planning, but why would she write page after page about it, describing all the decorations etc??
Take out all the superficial fluff, or mention it in just a sentence. Go more in depth, with more feeling. She wasn't very good at describing things in a way that made me care, or understand why they were important. And I don't think it's because of the events themselves, but about the way she described them.
Yes. But she wasn't very good, sometimes sounding monotone, sometimes using a cadence that just sounds off and didn't make any sense. It was okay, but I would expect more from an actress, or any professional audiobook narrator.
No, sorry, can't say that it was. And I probably liked Melissa Joan Hart better before I read this book. She comes off a little full of herself, and shallow.
"Takes me back to my childhood!"
I loved this book as it took me back to being a teenager! I feel that I have grown up with Melissa through her programmes and it was great to learn about how she got into this business. But most of all I love the fact in how she remains down to earth and her most important role is being a Mother.
My favourite character was obviously Melissa herself!
This is the first book on audible but what I enjoyed the most was the author was also the narrator.
I really enjoyed listening in how to Melissa acting was something that was a natural hobby and how she explains she got into it very young but was in no way forced into it.
"Likeable romp with limited depth"
Her distinctive tones and tongue in cheek
This book is nice enough. There is no depth or darkness to it at all. It is very much like the rest of the MJH brand. It made me laugh a couple of times and for the most part fore filled it's part of the deal. I guess i should be pleased that she has remained relatively normal dispite her fame at a young age.
I think the thing I didn't warm too was the name dropping - but the reality is that is a big part of her life. She grew up wanting to be, working hard to become famous. From a young age she fought for it but it does mean her life is full of other famous people.
"melissa really does explain it all"
I really am a big fan of Melissa joan hart, and even more so after reading all about her interesting life.
you will not be disappointed!!!
