"Highly readable." (Publishers Weekly)
Yes. It makes you feel like you are right there with the characters
The bravery and cunning of the main character.
When they were out on patrol and in hiding waiting to shoot the general.
An excellent read/listen. Keeps your attention throughout.
No real shooter should go without knowing about and having read works on Carlos Hathcock! A most honorable country fellow whose life and career parallels another super marksman and hero, Audie Muruphy. Audie also grew up in a small farming community whose family had to depended on him daily to put meat on the table. Responsibility and dependability learned from a very early age tends to result in the making of quite gentlemen and great warriors.
Enjoyed listening to the history of the sniper in Vietnam.
It was OK. Made Hathcock sound weak.
Born, raised, and live in Hawaii. Married with one cat. My favorite way to drive my car is to listen to a great audiobook at the same time. Addicted to the Pendergast novels of Preston and Child. Also love autobiographies narrated by the author, usually a celebrity of some sort.
My husband actually was the one who listened to it. He said it didn't hold his attention as much as, say, if the sniper himself were narrating it. But it got better after the first half.
This book was very informative into a life that few people will ever know. There was much attention to detail which gave an element of making me a participant in some of the events. The authors voice was soothing and was able to build suspense as he developed the situations that Hathcock found himself in.
Get story about a young man fighting for his country. He helped put the sniper as important personel for us and the future fighting for the USA
I cannot say enough about this listen. It never failed to amaze. These true accounts of the pioneering Marine scout snipers makes me proud to be an American. I'm a better person for have herd it.
This is an 'I can't turn it off' audiobook! Very well read.
Hathcock was certainly someone who was uniquely suited to being a sniper. He was also passionate about his profession and helped set the standard for others.
I remember this book as an excellent read,,,,,the only thing wrong with the audio version is the narrator. He's better off reading a National Geographic.Maybe it's me but I couldn't finish it.It turned out to be a waste of money.
This is right up there with "Shadow Divers" as far as a good story and a good audiobook goes. Good character voice acting as well. Made me want to go and research more about the main chap. Carlos.
