Publisher's summary

Actor, producer, and New York Times best-selling author Rob Lowe offers up a collection of personal stories in an honest and celebratory memoir about men and women, art and commerce, fathers and sons, addiction and recovery, and sex and love.

Actor Rob Lowe is an entertaining raconteur whose best-selling first audiobook, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography, was hailed as "self-deprecatingly funny" (The New York Times) and "thoroughly entertaining" (Time) and earned the author the cover of Vanity Fair.

Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Lowe's life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Among the many adventures Lowe describes in Love Life are what it's like in the trenches as both the star and producer of a flop TV show; how a visit, as a 20-year-old, to Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion led to a surprise in the hot tub; how an actor prepares for a role, as well as the practical, boots-on-the-ground details no drama or film school would ever teach you. You'll delight at the hilarious account of the time a major movie star stole his girlfriend, and of coaching a kid's basketball team dominated by omnipresent helicopter parents. The story of coming to terms with his son's departure to college for the education his father never got will touch anyone with a family.

Building on Stories I Only Tell My Friends, Love Life is the literary equivalent of returning to a favorite restaurant to savor a completely different, delicious new dish. If you love life, you'll love this audiobook.

It’s like we’re friends now

I’ve always been a fan of Rob Lowe... talented, witty actor, married forever, never any personal scandals and in recovery. It’s our common bond. He speaks my language and the inner struggles of an alcoholic with time. He’s a great story teller and has a love for life that I’m just not embracing myself. His chapter on his relationship with his wife brought me to tears.. it renewed my faith in love. Men like him do exist! If you need to laugh, sneak a peek into an actors life, get a glimpse of true love, family and recovery... this books for you.

Another great one by Rob Lowe

I bought Rob Lowe's first book (Stories I Only Tell My Friends) and loved it. Before that I really didn't know much about him / much of his work. Hearing his stories, his thoughts and observances on life, and seeing more of his work has made him one of my favorite actors and people. I highly recommend both books. Hearing him tell it in the audiobooks is just awesome.

Bravo, Rob!

Another brilliant performance by Rob Lowe.
Thoughtful and introspective, it’s another heartfelt telling of his personal stories. It’s so intimate and vulnerable, I felt like I was in the room with him.

Rob pulls back the curtain on some of the inner workings of show business giving us a glimpse of the deals, challenges and victories. He always paints his celebrity colleagues with respect and positivity, learning from them and never tempted to go to anything salacious or unseemly. His genuine love for his career, colleagues, friends family and especially his children and wife comes through in astute examination of his experiences.

He’s a deep thinker, no one would ever say that he is “just a pretty face.” Rob is an old soul who, with every word, shows that he…Loves Life!!

I loved it and want more if he wants to share.

Love Rob Lowe

It is never a bad day when I can listen to Rob reading his book to me on Audible. I enjoy the stories laced with tidbits of detail that I never knew about stories that became public. Rob's insight and practical wisdom is both entertaining and enlightening.

AWESOME book!

I Loved both of the books that Rob wrote. The plus with audible is that he is also the narrator. Such fun stories of his life and since I grew up the same time as he and have enjoyed his movies all of my teenage / adult years it was tun to hear stories about the people we grew up watching and loving! He is an amazing man that LOVES his family. A true inspiration -

Different than the first book, but just as good!

I really think that Rob did an amazing job with telling a story that really connects with the listener and my case, really hit home has a dad around his age. He makes his stories fun, but more importantly, he gets real with his audience. Definitely one of the best books I’ve heard in a while!
