Great book. I love hearing about the Masters.

Valuable for anyone on a journey to realization. Many "leads" for me to follow up on and study. Swami Rama is a interesting guy. Very open about how rebellious and stubborn he was. His suicide threat to his Master if he didn't give him instant Samadhi was humourous to me. I was left wanting more tales of the Masters. God bless.

Spiritual lessons that also entertain

Read convincingly by Dr. Rao, in a slight and suitable Indian accent, this enlightened master (Swami Rama) tells the journey of his own spiritual growth from uninformed youth to adult adept. This highly entertaining story is strewn with nuggets of lessons and helpful hints. His way of teaching is humorous self-deprecation, in describing his spiritual shortcomings in different situations, then also presenting the spiritual lesson that he so clearly learned and mastered. In this way we see him for the great sage he became, without an ounce of boasting. I recommend getting the physical book to read along. Not only does it help understanding and retention, the book contains extra nuggets of information not read, plus you might want to refer back to book recommendations, herbs, places etc.

Fascinating experience of living with Himalayan sages

Feats performed by these sages are unbelievable. They can even bring back dead back to life. Swamiji explains in simple language universal brotherhood and good way of living. He conveys his message in small but beautiful anecdotes. It is a very good reading for people interested in spiritual advancement.

Stories and teachings for a spiritual seeker

I read this book after “autobiography of a Yogi.” In my personal opinion it’s not as interesting of a story but autobiography of a Yogi is very hard to beat! This book is definitely worth your time if you enjoy spiritual stories that give you a glimpse into the lives of yogis and spiritual masters in India. There are many teachings woven through the stories. I also appreciate the fact that the author shares his process which may make you feel a bit better about your own! He seemed to be a pretty normal skeptical young man who didn’t just listen to what others told him or told him to do. He had to learn everything for himself. I enjoyed his honesty in the retelling of the stories. If you’ve made it this far into the reviews I think you are likely to be a person who will enjoy this book!

Insightful

Very insightful on the lifes and practices of the Himalayan yogis. Many events may seem abit exaggerated and out of the world to belief, but We gotta agree that there are many things that are beyond our understanding. Thus you have to read it with an open mind. I must add that the narrator Dr D C Rao did a fantastic job. Loved it.

An extraordinary life changing book!!!

A life changing book with such a wonderful real examples!!

I have started believing more into ‘Theory and Principles Of Karma’ after reading this pious book.

Few other points I noted while reading....

The biggest mantra of him - “be cheerful at all the time”

Enjoy the company of your friend within and you will never feel loneliness

Think other as not other but your own family, as ...you and practice cutting you/he/she/yours/his/they bonds... all are one family

Develop Fearlessness in everything

Outside Attachment brings possession and conflict while inner attachment brings unconditional pure love

Truth ...is God...

Discupline...

Selfless, humble and loving will develop true humanity

Give up greed, anger and attachment. And do daily meditation..

Be that what you are and don’t pretend to be what you are not..

Learn Inner strength, cheerfulness and selfless service ...

Swami Rama’s works

This book is an amazing and rare story.
It is my humble wish that Dr. D. C. Rao will, in time, narrate all of Swami Rama’s books as his voice embodies the spirit of Swami Rama’s words and takes one to a place where we can not only hear the the voice of Swami Rama but seem to travel to the actual place and times of this great Swami.

Fascinating

I avoided reading this book for some time, although I enjoyed many other Himalayan Institute publications, because I thought it would be pompous and dry. That couldn't be further from the truth! With self deprecating humor, in plain, clear language, Swami Rama has recorded some of the most remarkable accounts ever written. Though autobiographical, these stories read like fairy tales. Read this book to know some of the things a well disciplined human mind is capable of, but more importantly, read it to become assured that Western culture has much to gain by studying and applying the practices of the ancient masters of yoga.

Hello

I've listened 3 times to really digest it. Amazing is the normal. Explanations have a simplistic quality.
