Publisher's summary

On September 11, 2001, Lisa Beamer was thrust into the national spotlight after her husband, Todd, became an American hero by preventing terrorist hijackers from almost certainly flying United Flight 93 into the White House or the United States Capitol. Instead, Todd led a group of passengers to resist the hijackers, forcing the plane to crash into a Pennsylvania field. Todd and the other heroes of Flight 93 gave their lives so that untold others would be spared. Nothing could be more heroic.

Lisa is now telling that story, and much more. She explores the tragic events of that day, revealing some information never before published. She also looks at the life of her husband, telling how and why he was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice and the reason for her hope, courage, and quiet personal strength. This is Todd and Lisa's story, but it's also ours, for all of us who long to have the personal qualities of a real hero. This book shows us what they are and how to develop them. The phrase, "Let's Roll" were the last words the GTE Airfone operator heard from Todd before the crash. They have become a rallying cry for all Americans to move ahead, despite pain and suffering, with hope, courage, and strength.

Inspiring book. I couldn't put it down.

I read (not listened) to this book and found it irresistible. The author doesn't try to sugar coat her thoughts or beat around the bush in her assessment of the cause of the 9/11 terror attacks. She's obviously also still hurting badly(at least at the time of the writing of the book)as a result of the death of her husband. An engaging story and clearly written from the heart.

Not what your ...

led to believe this is about. Yes, there is some story on Todd Beamer. It goes into his upbringing some, his marriage, etc. But, I found the story to be more about Mrs. Beamer rather than Todd Beamer. And it is more on the religious beliefs that she has, that I could have done without. Don't get me wrong, The story benefits somewhat from that knowledge, but she spends far too much time on it. If I knew then what I know now about the book, I'd have saved my money.

Spending a Few Hours with a Friend

While listening to this book, I felt like I was spending time with a dear friend, trying to understand how she is able to cope with the devastating, personal loss she experienced on September 11, 2001. This book is so much more than a story of loss and survival. It is a book of faith in God and the use of this faith in times of crisis to find peace and purpose even in the face of adversity. She shares her life, and that of her husband's family, their courtship and marriage, and then the events that led up to and followed September 11th. I cried bitter tears as I listened to the descriptive insights to her road to acceptance and how faith in God's plan for each of us can get you through anything. It even helped me get over some of the anger I harbored for so long for the terrorists who so willingly ripped apart families and friends in the act of hate. I am grateful to Lisa Beemer for sharing her story and reminding me that God is in charge and will provide what we need to endure anything life brings. It is a story that I will remember and draw from the rest of my life. It's a fantastic read.

Let's Roll and trust God

A little slow at the beginning but I really enjoyed the book it was very honest showing his faith was with him until the end and reminding the reader that God can make beauty out of tragedy I also enjoyed the music in between each chapter. Having it is well with my soul play at the end was a tangible reminder that God waswas is those passengers on 911

Not what I'd expected.

Actually, I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this book. It's easy listening, and simply written...sometimes too simple, and occasionally tedious to listen to. I found the stories re/Todd's childhood extremely boring, and rather mundane, not giving the reader any real insight as to what kind of boy or man he was. In my opinion, Lisa Beamer came across as fairly "unreal"...extremely virtuous, and very much in control. I realize she was extolling her Christian beliefs, but I can't help wondering if there might be another "Lisa" underneath it all, who is much more interesting and heartfelt. I guess it was "her" story I was hoping to read, instead of listening to her ongoing proselytzing.

So now I'm left questioning her genuine feelings, along with her motives for writing this book. For several years after 911 she seemed to appear on every talkshow available. But now all I have read about her is that she bought a second home for 1.9 million dollars and has remarried. Poor girl.

Found more interesting information on the Internet

This is a very interesting event. This book talks Little about what actually happened and more about her religious views. As I understand that he’s gotten her through this, I want to know more details of what happened.
