Publisher's Summary

1967, eight-year-old Davie's world was turned upside down. Traveling with a madman who was without conscience, Davie was physically and mentally abused at every turn. Using every ounce of courage he could muster, Davie fought day after day just to survive - never knowing which brutal attack would be the last for him and his family. This is a shocking tale of abuse, manipulation, and bravery as told by a survivor. Kennesaw Taylor shares his story with others to let them know that there is hope. Let the cycle of abuse be broken.

Traveling the country to promote Informally Educated, Kennesaw has tried to raise awareness about the abuse and domestic violence he endured during his childhood. Trying to save one child or woman from what he went through, trying to help others break the cycle of abuse they are trapped in. Kennesaw is also a humor columnist for several small papers. Story
    "Bizarre story. Recommended."
If you could sum up Informally Educated in three words, what would they be?

This book is so bizarre I found myself questioning the truth of it, however that is probably my own naivety. It is a very disturbing book and it actually made me physically uneasy, it is frightening to think that there are people like Cooper out there in the world. Guess I can't count to 3.

    "Wish I would have exchanged"

This is a tragic story and I commend the author for sharing it. However, I found this book very boring and hard to follow.

    Story
    "State of mind--no kidding"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

While reading this, I had to keep reminding myself that this is a non-fiction book. Although I did endure some things that I would consider child abuse, it was nothing compared to what the author endured. God bless him for not becoming what he endured. My father always said that his corporal punishment was how he was raised and was the only thing he knew.

What did you like best about this story?

I actually almost put this story down down multiple times. . . The thing I "liked" best was the author's honesty and openness in his experiences.

What about Bob Hennessy’s performance did you like?

He spoke clearly and with emphasis on where it belonged.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me very angry. It also brought back memories of things that were done to me. It did dredge up some things from the past that I wished to forget, but after hearing what he went through, I was able to pull my experiences out and examine them with little emotion.

    Any additional comments?

This book isn't for just anyone. If you've been or know anyone who has been abused this will cause a reaction.

    Story
"A raw and terrifying true story of child abuse"
What did you love best about Informally Educated?

The underlying humor the author used in telling his grotesque experience.

What other book might you compare Informally Educated to and why?

    A revamped "Child Called it."

Have you listened to any of Bob Hennessy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    All of it.
