Publisher's summary

As the winner of the 2010 Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii, Chris "Macca" McCormack may be the world's greatest athlete. In I'm Here to Win, McCormack shares his story, along with training tips and practical advice to help listeners develop their own routines, diet, exercise programs, and race strategies.

Chris McCormack has dedicated his life to training for - and winning - the Ironman World Championships, one of the most grueling tests of mental and physical endurance in the world. The race challenges athletes to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run a full marathon of 26.2 miles, all while battling harsh conditions and their own willpower. In 2010, McCormack won the Ironman World Championship for the second time at 37 years old - a testament to his fitness and endurance.

Macca's journey to athletic greatness is more than just one of physical perseverance. After coming in fourth in Hawaii last year, Macca returned to the island chanting, "I'm here to win!" He had a new mental game plan in place that brought him first across the finish line.

In this much-anticipated book, Macca shares his playbook and reveals everything it takes - mind, body, and spirit - to become a champion.

In addition to his Ironman wins in Hawaii, Macca holds the record for the most triathlon race wins ever and it's his winning strategies and mindset that he now brings to the listener in I'm Here to Win.

For weekend warriors who casually compete to seasoned veterans who race every weekend, armchair athletes looking for an extra push, and everyone in between,I'm Here to Win provides riveting insight into the mind of a great champion with excitement and inspiration in every minute.

Excellent listen!

If you could sum up I'm Here to Win in three words, what would they be?

Brilliant and Spot On

What did you like best about this story?

Strategic approach to triathlon

What does Howard Brunner and Chris McCormack bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Austrailian accent and sense of humor

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Absolutely. It was good to hear a success story from someone who has personally applicable racing issues.

Any additional comments?

Leave your bias at the door. Macca's attitude and persona simply reflect a guy with focus, intent, and passioniate. The guy gets a bad rep for saying what most are too insecure to. It's not disrespect; it's brutal honesty. Respect that.

Great for triathlete

Being an age grouper that loves the sport this was a great book with good nuggets of information. Not a how to but a life story of a pro triathlete. Puts perspective to how hard they work and what it takes to get to that level. I will stick to age group events and know my limits.

The good is perspective and hints from a pro that has had ups and downs in the sport

The bad is listening to the ego. Not that he didn't deserve it but sometimes it's overwhelming. It is his story and he is not humble. He is a pro and he lets you know.

Great book and great story.

Hooked me on endurance!

What did you like best about this story?

Really appreciated the real life insight into what goes on during an Ironman event. Macca made you feel like you were there with some of the descriptions he goes into.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, definitely.

Any additional comments?

I'd only listened to It's All About The Bike (on Lance Armstron and which I loved) and this audiobook set me down the path to having now consumed pretty much everything I could find on Audible on endurance sports and triathlon. Great listen while running or biking. One of the things that set me down the path to completing my first triathlon with designs on many more. Thanks, Macca!
