Very interesting life story of a "real" Christian- with Christ living within him and ruling his life. This has grown into "The exchanged life" movement within Christianity which emphasizes the "rest of the Gospel" with Christ as the Lord of our life. Really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it. It is an amazing life story of faith and prayer accomplishing unbelievable results. What a lesson in faith and humility.
Following Taylor's spirit of sacrifice for God.
His total denial of self and faith toward God to provide.
The story of Hudson's spiritual journey is life changing and profound. It is spiritually stimulating, inspiring, and deeply instructive and challenging. His secret of total surrender to God is one I have found similar expressions of in the biographies of Oswald Chambers, Henrietta Mears, & Eric Liddell. Very worth listening to and one I will return to over and over again.
the moment when he decided to give up his way of life and dress and to completely immerse into Chinese (uncomfortable) dress and way of life. Also, the realization that he could never handle life without complete surrender to God and by faith, living in the power of His Spirit.
Such a wonderful life of faith, duty, and loyalty to God! Amazing how he stayed true to God's call and continued to care for the people he was called to care for. So worth the time to listen to or to read.
I had already read the book, and really enjoyed rehearing the story of such an amazing man of God.
It was encouraging and inspiring- I highly recommend it!
Taylor's life was amazing as he trusted Jesus for every detail pertaining to his life. On many occasions the Lord would wait until the very last minute to meet Taylor's needs but would ALWAYS provide for him. It is just an amazing life of trust.
This book is in my top 20
YES. I recommend this story. It one of the greatest I have ever read. I read it first 15 years ago and listened to it--thanks to Audable-- last month. It is rich!
Yes, nice voice
When Hudson Taylor's daughter dies, then later, his wife dies. And that man loved his family, you can feel that in the way he loves and accepts the Chinese he loves and adores his own family. The loss of those dear people was heartbreaking and inspiring all at once.
Hudson Taylor was one of the first missionaries to accept woman as equal, equal in the work and equal in their value to God. He was a great man. If there was another biography (with lots of excerpts from his own corrospondance--I love that in a book!) then I would buy anohter version of his biography.
