Publisher's summary

Audie Award Finalist, Humor, 2014

Kevin Pollak rose through the comedy club ranks at the feet of Don Rickles and Bill Cosby, Johnny Carson, and George Carlin. Named one of Comedy Central’s Top 100 Stand-Up Comedians of All Time, he’s a killer impressionist - Falk, Shatner, Walken, Nicholson - a versatile actor with one of the most respected filmographies around, and an Internet pioneer. He’s done it all, and now he’s ready to spill the beans.

Ballsy, hilarious, and revealing, How I Slept My Way to the Middle winningly combines never-before-heard stories featuring A-list entertainers with fan favorites and Kevin’s own thoughts about how he made it. He turned down his first invitation to do stand-up on The Tonight Show because he knew that he’d make a bigger splash if he sat on the couch next to Johnny. That huge risk - which paid off in spades - was just the beginning. Find out how he brought John Belushi to his knees, tortured Paul Reiser (twice), bamboozled Larry King, stole Alan Arkin’s soul, almost killed Warren Beatty, and sucked face with Robert De Niro’s girlfriend. Now a new media entrepreneur, Kevin is laughing proof that if you follow your gut and believe in yourself, you can do anything you want - except have a rational conversation with Rip Torn, who’s an evil, paranoid $#!%.

Just loved this

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book this much. The author tells a good story, doesn't take himself (or the industry) too seriously, and just seems to enjoy retelling alot of the stories in this book. Great listen.

I just LOVE Kevin Pollak

... and this audio book explains why. There's no one quite like him. Every impression is dead-on. Every scenario in his life described perfectly.

Great book

I think he did a nice job giving the inside story of movies and show business. Also enjoy his podcast and he seems to value lunch breaks as networking opportunities and it certainly has worked for him and his career. Recommend to any one who is a fan of his movies and comedy and wants to know how he keeps his career going.

His actual impressions

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

No way this should be a film

Left me laughing all the way

Thoroughly entertaining to hear an actor / comedian / impressionist tell his life story and act out all the voices flawlessly. A must for all fans of Hollywood insider stories.

Great book. During the baseball announcer joke I almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard. Only a stuffy idiot would find this anything but a great read.

Pollak is a Gem

What was one of the most memorable moments of How I Slept My Way to the Middle?

Pollak is widely known for his impressions and does not hold back with them throughout his audiobook.

What does Kevin Pollak bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'd have to imagine his impressions and hearing them mightily improves the experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, though due to the length of my morning commute, it gets broken up into multiple listens.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to the Kevin Pollak Chat Show for the past two years and have been waiting to get his audiobook. Glad I finally did!
