Publisher's summary

Love history? Know your stuff with History in an Hour.

In his ambition to provide a male heir to the throne, Henry VIII married six times. Divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, caused England’s break from the Catholic Church in Rome. He went on to divorce Anne of Cleves and behead Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard for infidelities. Jane Seymour died and Catherine Parr survived Henry.

Henry VIII’s Wives: History in an Hour will introduce you to these six entirely diverse and captivating personalities and the events that propelled them to their individual fates. You will learn which wife had what impact on Henry and England and understand why Henry and his six wives form the most popular period of Tudor history.

Good for Refresh or Introduction

I enjoyed the History in an Hour series - most 'books' were good - many mere 'refreshers' on topics I was already familiar with, and some (such as this one for me) were introductions.

So after this book, I encountered the rhyme "Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived" on a piece of art at an art museum, and I actually knew what it meant (I would have been 'blind' to it otherwise). (the females in my party already knew, no wonder there).

Excellent, short, and to the point

Other then the famous Ann Boleyn, I knew very little about the wives of Henry VIII. This little gem was a very informative and delightful experience. Jonathan Keeble's narration is, as usual, excellent.
Overall, I highly recommend the 'History in an Hour' series. They are light, informative, and well presented. And you can't beat the price!
