Publisher's summary

One year ago, Sarah Palin burst onto the national political stage like a comet. Yet even now, few Americans know who this remarkable woman really is.

As chief executive of America's largest state, Sarah Palin had built a record as a reformer who pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: energy independence, ethics reform, and the biggest private-sector energy infrastructure project in U.S. history. While revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also brought Big Oil to heel.

She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue-collar union man, and the mother of five children. But as the presidential campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. And few knew the real Sarah Palin.

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizen's extraordinary journey, and imparts Palin's vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth.

Going Rogue

Going Rogue defines the character and situation of Sarah Palin. It fills the gaps from the media frenzy as seen on TV and sets Sarah and her family into everyday life in Alaska. In this book, Ms Palin sets the record straight.

Genuine

I enjoyed the book "Going Rogue". You will get a feeling of what it is like to be in the spotlight and on the campaign trail. Sara gives her view of what happened on her run for VP, including the infamous Katie Couric interview, her highs, lows, things that inspired her and things that gave her pause. This book gives an interesting glimpse behind the political scene of a person so much under a microscope, then and now. I came away inspired by a smart woman who would have set Washington DC on its heals with her no nonsense, let's do things FOR and not TO the people. A person who is dedicated to making us aware of how poud we should be to be an American!

Get to know Sarah Palin better

I enjoyed listening to Governor Palin read this book. It really helped me to get to know her better. It starts out with her getting the call and being asked to interview as the 2008 Republican Vice presidential candidate. She goes back in time and explains how she got into politics in the first place. She talks about her family and the pressure that involvement put on those she loves. Governor Palin was elected Governor of Alaska because of her strong grass roots effort. It was a shame that the campaign advisors would not let her have more input on how to be presented to the American public. I only wish the audible version had been unabridged so I could have heard more.

Very interesting stories, if a bit self-serving

I did enjoy this book, especially that it was narrated by the author. Most interesting was hearing an inside account of someone running on a major party presidential ticket, kind of experiencing that through her eyes. That said, there were some parts that I thought were really meant to advance her agenda or candidacy, but I guess that's to be expected - she is a politician. Overall my opinion of her changed for the better from having listened to her story told first hand.

Down home person

I really enjoyed Sarah's story. She's a real person and I almost felt like I wanted to start packing for a vacation in Alaska. So sad she has been beaten up on and lied about. Book kept me with it the whole way.

Very much worth a listen

I'm a moderate Republican (one of the last five in America), and I've been very impressed with Sarah Palin ever since her nomination as VP (well, except for the Katie Couric interview, which she herself admits went poorly). If you listen to this book with an open mind, I don't see how you can help liking her personally. Maybe it won't convince you to vote for her, but it should put to rest the more silly accusations leveled against her. Highlights of the book include her touching story of Trig's birth, and background info on the campaign (and I find her account of the campaign far more credible than those of her accusers, if for no other reason than she goes on the record, while the accusers all hide behind anonymity).

Brilliant Read

This narration is excellent. After this abridged version, you may want the full text.

Unfortunately, most of the anonymous "helpful" or "not helpful" clicks are obviously from folks who haven't read or listened to this book. This is reflected in the 4.5 star rankings and thoughtful reviews, compared to the lopsided "was this helpful" number. Why do you think "these" people want to shut Sarah down? GO ROGUE, and see !!

Go Sarah Go!

I loved this book. I was a Sarah Palin supporter in the election and this book convinced me that my gut instincts in 2008 were completely correct. This book (ready by her) is in her words...no one else, and it's completely candid. Sarah is funny, serious and very informative about herself, her family and her political views. I'll vote for her again, given a chance!
