Good stuff

Thorough but engaging biography and history of two great men. And a great peek into another time and place. 30 hours so good value for money. I’ve gotten a few long boos I never finished, but this one kept me engaged enough to finish (though I spread it out over a few years!)

GandhI & Churchill; a wonderful review of world events in the 1900s.

For those of us that have lived through the 1940’s to the present, this well written book puts together all the pieces of the puzzle while detailing the most interesting & important bits of information of two major players influencing events in that era; An easy read especially with both the book and Audible!

Struggle against colonization

Very gripping read on two leaders of their nations and how their stories enter twined with each other to tell an amazing story. The author does a valiant job of staying unbiased but the power of a people striving for self government screamed through to make Gandhi the more compelling and compassionate figure.

41 minutes shy of 30 hours

I just read my favorite history book of all times and as a nerd, I read my fair share of Winston Churchill, but I never read anything about Mahatma Gandhi. “Gandhi & Churchill” was beyond excellent. The two historical figures were way different from each other, but also ironically the same too. I listened to these two biographies all week (six days) and I was so intrigued that I couldn’t press the pause icon to take a break.

Usually, I am always multitasking when I have my headphones on and listening to a book. It’s like background music as you shop in a department store and before you know it, you are humming the tunes that they are playing to make you stay in the store. I felt the same way while listening to this book. I couldn’t stop working because I didn’t want to stop listening to this book.

41 minutes shy of 30 hours within less than a week is not an easy task, but “Gandhi & Churchill'' I've learned so much that I feel that I have my best week of productive work in a long time.

Really good, only one problem...

While I fully enjoyed this story of two men who were great, but had their faults. My problem with this book is its premise. Churchill and Gandhi. It's a thin connection.

Great read by Curless. He was perfect or this.

John Benros

The book gets past the lionized versions of each man and via full context, provides an accurate portrayal displaying both their victories and many failures

Fascinating

I loved this. It is quite long and I listened over a period of time, not expecting to do otherwise. I’m certain I missed some points but it gave me insight into two men I knew about, their times in history and how they were intertwined, and the good and bad about both. It also piqued an interest in related history to which I hadn’t given the sort of attention I wish to now.

Never cared for books on tape but non-fiction can be like attending a series of lectures if you are interested in the topic. The writing here is clear and direct and language is well developed but not excessive, and the reader is clear and a pleasure to hear.

Relearnig History

I had read about Ghandi 40 years ago so it was great to learn the story again in the context of the Raj represented by Churchill. As India rises as an economic force, this is a good introduction to early failed relationships with the West

Excellent

I have enjoyed listening to this book very much. I listen about 1 hour per day on the way to and from work. Amazing story and has parallels between the British attempts to control foreign lands in the 1800's&1900's and the US present day foreign policy. I had no idea how extensive the British empire was until I listened to this recording. We gain more insight into Ghandi then that offered by the remarkable film about him. Churchill's career path is amazing and tortuous.

Amazing book

The book beautifully weaves the lives of Churchill and Gandhi. The narrator of the book made it even more engrossing.
