short bio of fascinating figure

This lecture is typical of the best of the Great Courses. Prof. Steinberg is a captivating lecturer and this one concerns a fascinating historical figure. Only wish it were longer!

Like a mandatory history class you endured

Though this brief intro course has some redeemable content - historical facts, impact of the person himself, etc. - it reminded me that a really good professor can make even the driest material come to life in your mind. Don't expect fireworks.
