Audie Award Nominee, Inspirational Nonfiction, 2013

Fearless takes you deep into SEAL Team SIX and straight to the heart of one of its most legendary operators.

When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan - but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

Long before Adam Brown became a member of the elite SEAL Team SIX - the counterterrorism unit that took down Osama bin Laden - he was a fun-loving country boy from Hot Springs, Arkansas, whose greatest goal had been to wear his high school’s football jersey. An undersized daredevil, prone to jumping off roofs into trees and off bridges into lakes, Adam was a kid who broke his own bones but would never break a promise to his parents.

But after high school, Adam fell in with the wrong crowd, and his family watched as his appetite for risk dragged him into a downward spiral that eventually landed him in jail. Battling his inner demons on a last-chance road to redemption, Adam had one goal: to become the best of the best - a US Navy SEAL.

An absorbing chronicle of heroism and humanity, Fearless presents an indelible portrait of a highly trained warrior who would enter a village with weapons in hand to hunt terrorists, only to come back the next day with an armload of shoes and meals for local children. It is a deeply personal, revealing glimpse inside the SEAL Team SIX brotherhood that also shows how these elite operators live out the rest of their lives, away from danger, as husbands, fathers and friends.

Fearless is the story of a man of extremes, whose courage and determination was fueled by faith, family, and the love of a woman. It’s about a man who waged a war against his own worst impulses and persevered to reach the top tier of the US military. Always the first to volunteer for the most dangerous assignments, Adam’s final act of bravery led to the ultimate sacrifice.

Adam Brown was a devoted man who was an unlikely hero but a true warrior, described by all who knew him as fearless.

Buy & listen to this book: Amazing

The narration is excellent and Eric's writing will make you feel like you really know Eric, Kelley and his friends. It's uplifting, poignant and will make you cry. However, reading/hearing Adam's story will make you want to go out and do more with your life. There's also a nice interview with Eric at the end of the book.

An incredible story. I purchased it on a whim, was all out of books and search Navy seal books. It was a low priced book so I thought I would try it. Wow best book ever. After I was done I bought 4 Paper copes and gave them out for friends to read on loan. Then some of them gave it to there friends. I didn't care as long as these books did not sit on a shelf. I felt it was a book others should read. This book is a incredible story I encourage all to read it. It is so much more than just a story about the Navy Seals. Every person I have loaned these books out too has had the same feelings I have. Please purchase this book and enjoy.

Inspiring story told beautifully

What did you love best about Fearless?

I enjoyed the intimate details conveyed in such a simple way.

Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?

Paul Michael did a wonderful job telling the story of Adam Brown. I can't imagine anyone else doing it better.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book inspired me. I sometimes lapse in my dedication to the job because I am so far removed from the fight. This book reminded me why I do what I do. My role is a minor one, but I feel that my support to the war fighter is needed. This book reminded me that though I am not in harms way, I support those who are. My fight is easy in comparison.

Unbelievably moving and inspiring

Simply an amazing story of faith, family, redemption and ultimate sacrifice. Adam Brown's life story, warts and all, is moving and inspiring. The book left me wanting to know more, not just about Adam, but all those in the special warfare community. The sacrifice they, and even more importantly, their families make is beyond my ability to comprehend. The special operators and their loved ones are incredible gifts from God. Bottom line, read/listen to this book. You won't be disappointed. God speed to Adam and thank you for stepping up to "shovel some of the world's sh*t." (A funny and memorable line from the story).

Inspiring

This book was inspirational in a sense of a man, an American, and a Christian. The author sought out to tell the story not only of Adam Brown the great soldier, the father and husband, but also the drug addict. This book gives you a sense that there is hope, even when hope feels entirely diminished. This book was great, and I would suggest it to anyone with interests in this special forces, or someone seeking out direction in their religion.

Heart breaking...but humbly I stand in awe

This is an amazing story about an amazing man and what's even more amazing is that he wanted his story told to glorify God. This story was only made possible because of the other amazing men he served with as seals who made it a priority to honor him before deploying and ultimately giving of their lives as well. We are blessed to live in freedom because these amazing men and their wives. Praise be to God.
