Publisher's Summary

Few relationships fire our imagination like that of Elizabeth I and her "bonnie sweet Robin" - the Earl of Leicester, Robert Dudley. But not in almost half a century has there been a book dedicated to exploring and disentangling the emotive, often contradictory facts about their lifelong love. Rather than retelling a story we already know, Gristwood seeks to untangle the myths and stories that surround this fabled partnership. Elizabeth & Leicester is a portrait of two people who forged their age; of a relationship in which, unusually, a woman held all the power; of an edgy yet enduring love that still stirs us today.

    "Elizabeth & Leicester (Unabridged)"

Very knowledgeable writer with obviously well researched facts, balanced and deliberated opinions etc, but sadly I was so bored that I chewed off my own arm rather than finish listening. Maybe the well enunciated, but halting reading contributed .. I don't know.
