In this truly inspirational audio book, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body began shutting down - overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience (NDE) where she realized her inherent worth... and the actual cause of her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her condition had improved so rapidly that she was released from the hospital within weeks - without a trace of cancer in her body!
Anita had been pushed and pulled by cultural and religious customs since she was a little girl. After years of struggling to forge her own path while trying to meet everyone else’s expectations, she had the realization, as a result of her epiphany on the other side, that she had the power to heal herself... and that there are miracles in the Universe that she’d never even imagined.
In Dying to Be Me, Anita freely shares all she has learned about illness, healing, fear, “being love,” and the true magnificence of each and every human being!

I listened to this book twice. There is a vast cavern of insight and once just wasn't enough to process it all. There are other books out there describing 'Near Death Experience' , but this one can be verified - - including an ultimate cancer recovery from the brink of death - - and the awareness of events happening beyond the body's resting place. I found this author to be credible and articulate. My favorite part of this book is the ending when she answers questions submitted to her. My truth resonated with each answer. I found myself repeating "yes" "yes" "yes!"
What if......all of humanity could adopt this type of consciousness? What if we could all suspend judgment and allow others to be who they are? What if we could abolish fear and the consequences of it?
I recommend this book to those with open minds.....or venturing into 'open mind territory'.
I attended a Wayne Dyer lecture last year and he spent alot of time talking about Anita's story. I got home and watched her youtube interviews and couldn't wait to get the book. I purchased the Kindle edition and read it while waiting for an audiobook. I do not write reviews on books, but I feel this is some of the most important work to come out in a long time. Anyone wanting to understand and discover who and what we really are, and the root cause of our problems need to read this book. Anita simplifies a very complex concept, and masterfully tells of the pain and discovery she experienced in her life. Her explanation of parallel lives and the reason we think in successive lives is masterfully done. I have read this and now listened 3 times. This has become a staple of my collection.
Avid Audiobook Listener.
Yes, but only the part about her description of her near death experience. I found the rest of the book to be preachy and full of platitudes.
Anita was pretty much the only character.
No I haven't.
Overall this is well worth getting. Anita's beautiful description of her near death experience alone is worth buying it for. I thought it was weird that so many reviews mentioned her exception command of the English language, but as I listened I found myself appreciating it as well. Her description of the event is incredible. The rest of the book was too vague, new age, and full of platitudes for me, but the first half more than made up for that. This is well worth getting.
This is a really good audio book. Moorjani's experience really makes me reflect deeply on the way my thoughts, which generate emotions, effect my health and my perception of my life. Her experience of the "after-life" or non-local realm or heaven or whatever term you want to use gave me a lot to think about. It certainly put a different perspective on these things than I had heard before. I found it fascinating.
Her understanding that instead of past lives, we are living parallel lives- with everything happening at once.
The question and answer section sometimes didn't flow linearly, which was disorienting at times.
I was very moved by the fact that Moorjani felt she wasn't meeting the expectations of her multi-cultures and how these expectations effected her long-term self-confidence and ultimately her health.
This is a fascinating book.
I love listening to Anita. Listening to her accent connected me more to her life and culture. She has such a lovely, calm way of speaking.
What Anita experienced was profound and I feel that her just sharing it with "me" lead me to some of the realizations she experienced without such drastic measures.
This book gave me hope and clarity.
I have already made huge changes in my life to allow it to be more about what I want and need and not what is expected of me. I continue to allow even more to come to me. "Allow" is my new favorite word.
An arresting near death experience told with brilliant insight and perspective, Dying to Be Me is not merely one woman's story, but a story about and for many of us who have faced or are facing life-threatening illness. The understanding Mrs. Moorjani gained can help all of us look to ourselves for answers about our illness. She explains how our views of ourselves determine our emotional and physical states of being, including determining our place on the illness/wellness continuum.
This is a remarkable book for its honesty, clarity, and for its respectfulness and depth of understanding on a subject often veiled with misunderstanding and confusion. The topic of near death experiences or NDE, is often rejected by the scientific community for lack of methodically obtained evidence to prove its occurrence. While proof of Ms. Moorjani's NDE may not be possible, her rapid healing response following it, which was documented, could not have been explained by the chemotherapy she received.
It is true that while she experienced organ failure, her body was supported by fluids and other palliative measures. However, while her cure does not prove that her NDE was the sole or even major cause of her rapid cure, there is as yet no other explanation for the fact that she went from being assumed by the doctors as comatose and all but dead to becoming conscious and cured.
I went from completely doubting that any NDE could actually result in healing from cancer to realizing there are many things that science lacks the means to explain. In addition, what Ms. Moorjani wrote will help many others feel empowered to take charge of their illness and look into ways their views of themselves are determining aspects of their illnesses or their responses to their illness.
It ranks among the most unique to present a controversial topic in an authentic manner backing it up with science and experiential information.
The Secret and other type of books that endeavor to help people connect, but lead pretty much to "wishful thinking." "Dying to be Me" is different...I think it really comes closer than these other books to the key to this connection and releasing ourselves from disease and turmoil.
I believe this is her first. : )
There were many in terms how she said things and feeling within myself my own healing.
Anita Moorjani's experience should be shared with everyone who believes in spirituality, to themselves and to all others.
Her presentation is honest, forthright and from the heart.
I listened to this book while reading a copy of the book. I do this with many books for enhanced understanding and clarity. I hope Audible.com makes more books available to do this.
I have been listening yo this book over and over. Life changing.
A 'how to live your best life freely' book
This book differs a bit from some of the other near-death stories so is worth reading. It's encouraging and uplifting and leaves one with a sense of control over their own destiny. Well worth consideration.
It is a stunningly honest autobiography of an ordinary woman to whom an extraordinary experience occurred.
I can't think of another book that moved me so much as Anita Moojani's story. Other books contain spiritual truths but this one touched me in a very special way.
It is hard to say, really, however, perhaps it was the lack of resistance that she had, whilst moving into a different dimension
How she described what happened to her;,particularly the all encompassing, unconditional love that she felt in that state of being
This is a must read book for anyone who is travelling on a spiritual path and exploring their inner light.
"a must read!"
1st few chapters a bit slow. last few mind blowing. so glad I read this
what a beautiful and perfect reality we can allow ourselves to live. Thank you Anita for your words of wisdom. This resonates with me and gives me a huge sense of release.
"Truly Enlightening. Exceptional."
For me this tied together much of what I have learnt over the last few years. highly recommended.
What an amazing story, I really enjoyed listening to Anita and the question an answers chapter was a great idea and answered some of my own questions. A recommended book
"I wish everyone had this book"
I didn't go through an NDE, be I feel and understand what Anita talks about like it was my own experience. Amazing book, it really opens mind and heart.
"Intelligent, sincere and concise"
A great book. A bit of a cheesey title but apart from that a well written in-depth personal account of a thought provoking experience. Anita explains her point in a matter of fact, common sense and humble fashion. It's not too long - she doesn't "milk it" she just makes her point (saying that your can kinda take it or leave it... She's not trying to convince anyone of anything, just telling her story of what happened to her and how she now sees the world).
An inspiring woman.
"Inspiring and life changing"
This beautiful account of Anita's near death experience was so engaging that I had to listen to it in one sitting. I simply could not stop.
I found so many truths that resonated deeply within me, as she described her experience at the time of her death.
I was amazed to find myself thinking that I either knew a particular truth or remembered it.
The book is beautiful in it's honesty and simplistic style. One of those rare occasions where the author makes the book come alive as the narrator. No one else could have done that.
Thank You Anita for sharing your story and thanks to Wayne Dyer for bringing it to my attention through "Wishes Fulfilled".
"Everyone should read this."
This book has changed my entire outlook on life. I had a fear of dying since I was 11 and now I do not fear it. I still want to live and spend time with my loved ones but I don't have that dread anymore. Thank you, you have no idea how much you have helped me xxx
"Worth reading Many insights"
Eloquence of the author enhanced the messages in this book. Much food for thought. And so well written/ expressed. I don't doubt for a minute Anita's experience was real. I would have enjoyed hearing more about the actual NDE. Some of what she said about her feelings of the meaning of being a human being after the NDE were repeated over & over. In a way that was a good reinforcer & illustrator of her experience & subsequent shift on her "take" of life. I fully understand that words are a lacking medium in which to convey her experiences. However less repetition of the changes the NDE wrought in her experience of living, & more staying in the story of the actual event would have even very interesting. I think this is a book of profound hope. I think Anita will make an intensely gifted teacher. I noticed she glossed over the role diet plays in modern day illnesses. I agree our inner self plays a major role; but physical factors & the importance of eating unprocessed food are equally of importance.
