Publisher's summary

Will Rogers once said he never met a man he didn't like. I feel the same about beer.

George Wendt and beer have shared a lot over the years: good times, great stories, useless trivia, and a successful show business career. In Drinking with George, Wendt invites readers to crack open a cold one and pull up a seat at the bar as he celebrates the indelible, intoxicating beverage.

Through personal stories and fascinating facts, Wendt delivers an ode to beer and all its irresistible peculiarities. In between spinning hilarious and frank tales of his own imbibing adventures -- from taking a first sip of his grandfather's Bud as a child in Chicago to a beer-fueled impromptu performance with Woody Harrelson and the U.S. Women's Synchronized Swimming Team -- he leaves no stone unturned in his quest to reveal and relish every detail about his favorite beverage.

What's the real difference between lager, stout, and ale? How do you convert your lady into a beer-lover? How many different ways are there to say "drunk"? What do you do when your beer is warm and you want to drink it now? Wendt answers all of these questions and more as he explores the vast cultural history of brews and tackles basic bar theory.

The next best thing to a barstool and a pint, Drinking with George is all the fun -- without the hangover.

More drinking with George than a guide to beer

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The title. It is more of an autobiography than a guide to beer.

Has Drinking with George turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

What about George Wendt’s performance did you like?

He is certainly able to best bring out nuances in his meaning as he wrote the text. I always enjoy this aspect when the author also narrates.

Awesome.

I found this book to be educational on beer in a generalized way and really loved how Mr. Wendt incorporated his life experiences and beer. I learned a lot about European manners of drinking as well as some great recommendations that I will be trying.

Enjoyable to the last drop

This book may not change the world, but it may just make you feel good about enjoying a couple of brews. Simply a fun, well read, good time. Cheers!

Worst Audio Book Ever!!!!!

Wow, that was absolutely horrible. For some reason I thought this was going to be a book about beer. After all, the title is "A Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer". I always liked George (Norm) from Cheers, and I love beer, so I was eager to learn about beer (history, brewing, types, manufacturing etc.) from someone who I thought had gone to "school" on the vast & rich history of beer, I was wrong.

This is a long, dragged out story about all of the stupid things George did while growing up. He tells stories of drinking as a kid, drinking in high school, drinking in college, getting arrested, and buying a keg for his son. These stories are neither unique or all that interesting. More importantly, this is NOT a "Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer".

This is the first audio book that I have not been able to finish. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this book.
