    "I Get It Now!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a Transylvanian to be better than the print version?

I personally enjoyed both versions. I was first introduced with the print version. There I had the chance to place my own imagination into each character. The audio version enhanced it even more!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the friendships that developed. It made me a little envious of the bonds that grew through their experiences. I didn't make these types of bonds during my high school years so to experience this through the book was quite enjoyable.

    Which scene was your favorite?

By far my favorite scene was the development of the "Spider Brothers". I laughed so hard through that section. It was hilarious.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hmmmm good question. Maybe something like, "bonds that last a lifetime"

    Any additional comments?

Confessions of a Transylvanian did an amazing job of introducing me to the whole "Rocky Horror" craze. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book! I can remember a dear friend from high school would talk about his weekend experiences at the local theater watching the live performances. I just didn't get it and wondered what the big deal was all about. Well after reading Confessions of a Transylvanian I TOTALLY get it now! I recommend this book to anyone who (a) wants to recapture the enjoyment of their Rocky Horror years at the theater, (b) didn't get what all the fuss was about and is now open to taking a ride back in time to experience it, or (c) have no idea what we are talking about here but is curious to find out. Read it, you won't be sorry!

"Freakin awesome! A must for Rocky Fans!"

First off, shut up and sit down, if you have a problem with cursing, ya better pick another f*cking book!

To say I loved this book is an understatement!! I grew up in another section of Florida and several years later, but boy do I wish I could have been a part of this! Listening to the adventures of the Wild and Untamed Things, brought happy tears to my eyes. I am a theatre gal from way back, so I know how being in a cast becomes a family. To be a part of something so special, is truly a joy.

As is the case with audiobooks read by the author, I feel like I am one of the gang, in a totally non stalker groupie sort of way! Listening to all the backstage mishaps and drama was a thrill. I feel like I have come to know Kevin, Russ, Donnie, Kenny, Boyd, Sunday, Tracey, Andrea, MarK, Iris, Tony, Felicia, Storme and Ron. So many others popped up, but these are the ones that stick in my head.

You get to see, Jack, wink wink, grow up and become a man through his time with the cast. He went from a fan to true part of the show. It was a treat hearing all the backstage insider secrets.

He is also wonderful at explaining, to the uninitiated, why Rocky Horror is such a cult favorite. Why this live experience can mean so much to fans. It is lightning in a bottle, you just hope for a glimpse if not a chance to touch it. It says it is okay to be who you are and welcomes all comers. Don't just dream it, be it!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kevin (Jack) Theis, who is fabulous. His pace is brisk, so if you can't keep up ya better slow it down a notch on the speed settings. You really do not want to miss a thing. This is one of the cases where I wholeheartedly endorse the author reading the material. Nobody else could have given the enthusiastic and energetic read. It felt like we were old friends chatting and catching up on old times. Heck, I feel like we are pals after spending 11 and a half hours with him. Count me in for the next reunion! LOL

This is a must listen/read for any Rocky fan. You will feel that love and energy all over again. This is at times hilarious and pinpoint. To think these kids were only 16ish and the lessons they taught each other. The understudies section was particularly wonderful. To be in that position and step down, even for one night a month, is huge!

While I adored the audio, I am afraid I missed out on things that would be in the print. I am going to scope out the ebook and see if there are photos, I need faces to go with these stories. I would recommend getting both, because this really was a delightful listen! (rockyconfessions(dot)com> get your extras fix at the website!)

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! "Fun and funny! A must-listen for Rocky fans!"
What did you love best about Confessions of a Transylvanian?

For those of us who fell for the Rocky Horror phenomenon in our errant youths, this book is like a trip back in time, capturing exactly what it felt like to be part of that wild, wacky, midnight madness - and for those of us who weren't lucky enough to be part of a cast, the book answers all those nagging questions about what it must have been like to don those costumes and get up there in front of everybody... And the answers are: YES! It WAS as fun as you thought it was; YES! It WAS was as sexy as you thought it was; and YES! When the book is over you'll wish you could hop in a time machine and go do the Time Warp again!

What did you like best about this story?

The sincere and personal nature of the storytelling really draws you in - it's highly detailed and no-holds-barred, so you feel like you're right there -- a young kid again, with all the weird feelings and excitement and confusion that that entails, and experiencing this crazy ride in real time with the narrator.

What does Kevin Theis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

In addition to being an excellent reader with a great voice, Kevin Theis is really skilled at inhabiting the moments, varying them, and making it easy to not only follow the story, but to become really invested in the various twists and turns. The fact the he's reading his own story is also really cool - you know this isn't just someone's interpretation of how the events felt - he's sharing with you exactly how he DID feel. It's like a friend telling you a really great personal story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh a lot, Theis is a really funny writer and you can tell he's having a great time sharing this story with you. It also made me really nostalgic for the early 80's!

    Any additional comments?

    Where's the sequel?

    "Coming of age"
Where does Confessions of a Transylvanian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Kevin tells a wonderful story of teenager finding himself in an unusual place. We have all immersed ourselves in movies, but Kevin found that the RHPS is more about living ones life with a sense of abandon. DON'T DREAM IT, BE IT!

What did you like best about this story?

I found Kevin's style easy to relate to. I was able to reminisce with him rather than just listen to his story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were several times that I missed the comradary of the close friendships that Kevin has been able to maintain.

Rocky Horror is unashamedly one of my favorite musicals. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this collection. A funny and moving look inside a cult favorite from the people who were there. The stories are enlivened and enriched by Kevin Theis' wonderful narration. I'd love to hear him do more books

    "Great Stories, Told Greatly!"
Would you listen to Confessions of a Transylvanian again? Why?

Gotta admit, Kevin Theis's (sp?) narration is one of the easiest, most fun reasons to take in this book. It's kinda like hanging out with your good friends--you've heard all the great, legendary "tales" at various parties, but you never get tired of hearing them re-told.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the fact that this isn't a "history of" or origins story. It's about growing up and finding your tribe and your voice.
