This book is an anthology written by a diverse group of 40 individuals from around the world. They come from all walks of life, yet they are all united by the choices they have made. Confessions of a Caffeine Addict covers all major products including coffee, tea, yerba mate, energy and sport drinks, soda, caffeine pills, diuretics, medicine, chocolate, and other foods containing the drug.
All have acted from their hearts and here, they have written from their hearts, telling the stories of what brought them along to their own conclusions about their use of caffeine. This book was written to inspire more people to make informed choices, to know that their actions do make a difference, and to know that, in their efforts to tell their tales anonymously, that they are not alone.

I would say the audio edition gave more of an insight into the characters feelings than a printed version would have. Primarily because I would have had to come up with my own mental voices for the characters & their woes.
When the realization that caffeine is in fact a drug finally dons on the characters I found it most amusing. Primarily because of the use of coffee in AA meetings globally.
The reading was intensely personal as though it was being told from the perspective of one who was going through the experience as opposed to one who was simply reading a story. I found that to be most gripping.
It made me hesitate to drink coffee as I listened. In fact at the moment I have become inclined to consume more fruited tea than before.
An excellent tale that I would gladly recommend to anyone.
I've never actually read or listened to a book that compares to this one! These are personal stories of people who suffered with caffeine addiction and caffeine side effects.
There were 40, so it's hard to pick out a single character.
No, it is non fiction, so it didn't affect me in that way.
This book warns you of the dangers of caffeine without being judgmental or melodramatic. While I'm not swearing off coffee (I already drink half-caff due to open heart surgery), I do tend to watch food labels more closely for caffeine. This book is worth your time!
Yes because I picked up on more details this time around which made me enjoy the stories even more.
I liked all the stories because they were all honest and I can relate to all of them.
A lot of emotion that greatly improves an already awesome group of short stories.
absolutely! I actually did besides eating as well as drinking a few times and using the restroom.
Highly recommended to all readers because I feel as if these stories offer a lot of valuable life lessons.
Definitely. It was very well produced, read by a great narrator and the subject matter is very relevant
There is a part where a trucker stays up so long using caffeine that he falls asleep and drives off the road.
Accents, easier understanding of points of view
It made me want to take a serious look at my caffeine consumption and wonder if some of my health problems are due to it
I loved this audiobook, and will go on to listen to more if more are as well done as this was.
No. Although it was enjoyable, I have no need to listen to it again. I would, however, recommend it to others.
The emotion and real life language used within.
I do not have a favorite. I appreciate the narrator's unique voice to each character, including the accents and lingo.
I did not have an extreme reaction to this book, but I listened intently and enjoyed it's narration very much.
These 40 stories of people who faced severe addiction to caffeine products, such as coffee and soda, are very well told. They range from a working mom who depends on coffee namely, to get through her busy day, to a truck driver who depends on caffeine to get the job done. Many of these stories end with a not so happy ending, ranging from health problems, to yes, even divorce.
Why I give this title 4 STARS: The entire book is very well written and told. I could feel the angst of the people as they relived their most horrid moments of addiction. This book definitely outlines the very real struggle many people face with addiction--especially an addiction that is often overlooked as an addictive substance. Anyone who is experiencing something similar would benefit from reading Confessions of a Caffeine Addict, as a way to see where their possible path may be going. It truly is a very thoughtful and insightful view on caffeine and its dangers.
However, one thing keeps me from giving a full 5 STAR rating--no solid evidence other than the testimonies of what the doctors and medical professionals told the storyteller. For me, I like to know the statistics with actual supporting, verified sources.
Regardless of this detail, I feel this book is a good read on the reality of caffeine addiction, and I highly recommend it.
The stories of how people recovered from their addictions from Caffeine.
I liked all the stories, just because the actual people telling their story overcame an addiction just by being aware of the consequences of overdosing on Caffeine.
The story HER NAME IS CAFFEINE, was pretty humorous, but sad. All together, it was true that caffeine can seduce you and take you into another dimension.
I would have liked to listen to it in one sitting, however I listened to it in 2 hour increments.
After listening to this audio- I now have a different perspective on Caffeine. I myself drink coffee every morning, but now I am going to start cutting down to where I will quit entirely. This audio was very educational on how Caffeine can effect a person's health.
I liked that it was a longer book, but made up of short stories, so if I couldn't get back to it for a while, I could immediately immerse myself back into it.
The girl who had alcoholic socialite parents who started feeding her coffee at the age of 4, because they didn't keep milk in the house. All they had was alcohol or coffee, so guess which one the (not so) lucky girl got?
You can't listen to this book without thinking of many people that you want to give it to, because they need to know, and see, their own situation.
Yes! Because it's entertaining and it makes you understand everyone is human just like us.
It stands alone in the category
A cousy feeling
addictions: we're all humans

"Read this and take control over your life!"
informative, mind-blowing, emotional
The narrator brings the different characters to life.
With the risk of sounding like one of the stories in the book . . . I love coffee. There have been times in my life when coffee was a food to my body and soul. I never though I'm addicted to it, but truth be told I still make coffee first thing in the morning even before I brush my teeth. After listening to the audio book I look at my coffee cup with mistrust and fear. What if my mood swings, the edginess and the sharp tongue are all due to my caffeine consumption. I still see my mothers shaking hands and the cup of coffee in them.
Read this! Change your life! Take control!
"This is an Amazing anthology!"
Well, I am not usually one for these kinds of stories but this one caught my attention, and I am so glad it did! It has been a long time since I have been drawn in by so many different stories, all of which are unique but surround the same subject... Caffeine. As a prolific coffee drinker myself I am all too aware of how it can induce some rather nasty side effects. But, to put it simply, WOW!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Confessions of a Caffeine Addict is just that, 40 rather remarkable stories about addiction to caffeine products. Simple right? Not so much, this entire anthology has been narrated expertly. Each and every story can induce an incredible reaction; sometimes laughter, sometimes contemplation and sometimes even tears.
Some of these kinds of books can come across a little preachy, ‘You must not do this’, ‘This is bad for you’, but not Confessions of a Caffeine Addict. It is more like listening to friends tell you about old times, when they had done something rather silly. You become so drawn in that you forget you don’t actually know these people!
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Without a shadow of a doubt, this should be on everyone’s ‘MUST READ’ or even ‘MUST LISTEN’ list. We all have that friend who drinks far too much caffeine to the point they have to think about blinking... And if you don’t, it is you. I would suggest quietly gifting it to them, maybe for their birthday or ‘non-birthday’.
Enjoy it folks, this is a rare one. A work of art which will entertain and educate you!
