Touching and insightful
I don't cry easily, but I got weepy eyed for this book. I can't say it is totally sad, but it has moments. I loved it, and I didn't know I would. As often as I would get frustrated with the author, I would be totally disarmed by her more. This is excellent.

Loved this book !
I consider myself to be a tough cookie - except when I read a compelling story about a horse or a dog, or other animal. Then I have to reach for the Kleenex. This was such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story.

A great story...
Loved the writing, the humor and detail were perfect and really created wonderful images for the listener/reader. However, the narrator's voice was pretty "over-the-top" theatrical, in my opinion. Richards' writing voice is so honest and straightforward, it did not seem a good match with the narrator's.

All I can say is, what a wonderful book
Beautifully written, engaging, thought-provoking. Susan Richards wrote about how difficult it was to get her writing published, which seems so odd because her writing is both lovely and powerful. And her story is interesting and meaningful even if the person reading it knows or cares little about horses. The memoir addresses many other areas. I think Lorna Raver's narration adds a great deal to the listening experience. She seems perfect for this story. Just a great book.
