Publisher's summary

Once in a generation a woman comes along who changes everything. Tina Fey is not that woman, but she met that woman once and acted weird around her.

Before 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and 'Sarah Palin', Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Entertaining

I'd never heard of Tina Fey before listening to this audiobook, and I don't own a TV so I had no idea about any of the shows she is talking about. Even with these disadvantages this was still a very enjoyable few hours. She has a knack for anecdote and a superb grasp of the punchy aside.

Funny, quirky and very, very enjoyable.

What made the experience of listening to Bossypants the most enjoyable?

Tina Fey's delivery is perfect, she even includes audiobooks 'insider' jokes. She writes in a series of mini-essays on different topics and covers everything from children to what it's REALLY like on photo shoots to her days on Saturday Night Live. It is lively, entertaining and very funny.

What did you like best about this story?

Tina Fey.

Which character – as performed by Tina Fey – was your favorite?

Too hard to pick a favourite. Her overall performance was just brilliant.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh out loud on many, many occasions. Particularly, the essay about her child that began with 'First Lord, no tattoos...'

Any additional comments?

If you need an audio book that's easy to slot in and out of without losing any kind of 'plot', this is perfect. If you need something that's wonderfully written, well observed and laugh out loud funny in places, this is perfect. If you like Tina Fey, this is perfect. Even if you don't, I kind of think she will grow on you. I love this audio.

... Who in earth is Tina Fey??

... And now I know. And now I love her.
Here in South Africa we've been watching SNL and 30 Rock and other new releases, basically express from the US, if not exactly the same night it's aired there, then at least a few hours or days later. And especially after the Palin/Fey debacle during the election at that time, the world (or rather I) stood up and wondered, Who is this Tina Fey?

I have listened to her audio book many times over... And it is a true gem. I love her style of reading, I love the goodness of her being that resonates in every (EVERY) single story, and I highly recommend it as a purchase/read.

This is what happens when someone with the combination of a high IQ, as well as the kind hearted diplomacy/mercy of an enormous EQ, narrates a book that seeks to make people smile or laugh.

Miss Fey has a fan in me. Talented. Real Lady. Much respect you gentle-kind-hearted-geeky person (person meant here, in all sincerity, as a term of endearment).

Funny

The funniest book I’ve ever read. Better than the masterpiece unreliable memoirs by Clive James.

Bossypantastic

Would you consider the audio edition of Bossypants to be better than the print version?

As Tina Fey, herself, narrates the book, you are able to understand her point of view from the tone and inflections in her voice better than if you were to simply read it. Not only that, but listening to her voice is awesome. Also, she ads little comments that would obviously not be in the printed edition.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

Tina's advice about improvisation is helpful and amusing. It is also interesting that she uses it to relate back to everyday life. Another memorable moment was her commenting on the internet feedback she receives. Very funny.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was so funny. Continuously through the book, I was laughed very loudly. This gave me a few odd looks when I was listening to it in public on my iPod.

Any additional comments?

Tina Fey is a genius and I recommend this book to any comedy-loving reader.
